The John C. Stalker Institute of Food and Nutrition JSI is the premier provider of child and school nutrition training in Massachusetts. The John C.

Stalker Institute of Food and Nutrition uses current research and technology to educate and inform Massachusetts professionals concerned with child nutrition and healthy nutrition environments. The programs offered by the Institute support schools in their efforts to integrate nutrition education, wellness policy goals, and services into comprehensive health education, food service, school health, and physical education programs. The audience for the Institute includes school food program directors, managers, and production/service staff; teachers of health, family and consumer sciences, physical education and biology; child care providers; school nurses; and other professionals working to improve the nutritional health of Massachusetts' school children.

Celebrating the first winner of the academic year, Boston Public Schools! From Boston's local waters to the farms of Western Mass, this tray showcases some of the best food the Commonwealth has to offer. This past June, BPS Eats served a hyper-local menu featuring New England Fish Sandwich from Red's Best (Boston, MA), house-made tartar sauce, kale & carrot salad, local black beans from Joe Czajkowski Farm (Hadley, MA) & fresh strawberries from Nourse Farms (Whately, MA) and Hood milk. This tray celebrates the Harvest of the Month and how Boston Public Schools is prioritizing high-quality local proteins and produce. Scott Noyes of Empowering Programs shared strategies for building a positive culture in the kitchen throughout Day 2 of the Management Institute! He highlighted the importance of praising kitchen staff for their successes, using clear and specific language when coaching, and explaining the "why" behind what we're asking staff to do-all to support better communication and reinforce positive results.
