Students ages 3-6 who enroll in our Early Childhood Center learn in a language-rich environment where American Sign Language serves as the foundation for learning and connection. Individualized language plans support development in ASL, written English, and, when appropriate, spoken English. This bilingual-bimodal approach ensures every student has access to the communication tools that best support their growth, learning, and future goals.

We are sometimes asked why so many students at Marie Philip School begin in early childhood and stay through graduation. The answer is simple: families choose to stay because their children continue to thrive. Our second annual 5th Grade Overnight Camp on the school soccer field was another huge success! This special tradition gives our 5th graders a chance to connect with their classmates, teachers, and staff while celebrating the friendships and memories they have made before beginning middle school this fall.

Students enjoyed an evening filled with fun activities, including making tie-dye t-shirts, swimming, sharing pizza for dinner, roasting marshmallows and making delicious s'mores around the campfire, and ending the night with plenty of laughter. The next morning, everyone enjoyed a pancake breakfast before wrapping up this unforgettable experience.

Today we hosted special friends and family of our TLC students as part of our biennial VIP Day. Our guests met staff, engaged with our students in activities, and toured classrooms to get an immersive experience at a Deaf school. Thank you all!

Last week, The Learning Center for the Deaf (MA) welcomed Brian Bennet to campus. He shared details with MPS Secondary students about Gallaudet’s aquatic program, as well as their triathlon team.

Brian is one of the most accomplished men's swimmers in Gallaudet history, and was inducted into the Gallaudet Athletics Hall of Fame in 2020. He now assumes the role as head coach of the Gallaudet men’s and women’s swimming and diving program.

Congratulations to Brian on his accomplishment in completing the 70.3 triathlon in Western Massachusetts on June 7th!

Last week, we held our annual Academic Awards. In addition to celebrating many students' academic successes, we were thrilled to present the Seal of Biliteracy to three students for the very first time. Congratulations to Peyton, Kevin, and Carter for achieving this incredible accomplishment! 🙌🏻

The State Seal of Biliteracy award recognizes high school graduates who attain high functional and academic levels of proficiency in English and a world language in recognition of having studied and attained proficiency in two or more languages by high school graduation. The achievement takes the form of a seal that appears on the transcript or diploma of the graduating senior and is a statement of accomplishment for future employers and for college admissions.🏅
