It is with great sadness that we share the news that FSU alumna (1980), and recently retired Coordinator of Residence Life Assignments, Laurie Carr, has passed away. We are deeply saddened and know that many in the Residence Life (and FSU) family will really feel this loss. Laurie was a kind, caring and compassionate colleague who will be missed beyond words. Please join us in keeping her family and loved ones in our thoughts and prayers.

Hey everyone, it's Johnny!
If you haven’t heard, Laurie Carr is retiring this June after her MANY years of service at FSU. We are so excited for the next chapter for Laurie but also recognizing the major impact she has on our campus community and presence she holds in our department.
We are compiling well wishes and would love for you all to contribute: https://forms.gle/dRsvqqu8tbsJwvy17
If you know anyone that knows Laurie/ wants to contribute, please forward this along to them!
FYI: Though this is technically a public page, I did check and Laurie doesn't follow this specific page. So this link will still be a secret.
I hope everyone is doing well!
Well Wishes for Laurie!

Great seeing several Res Life at today’s Homecoming football game! I was reminded of how many amazing stars I’ve had the privilege to work with over the years and how much has been accomplished!

Good Morning Everyone!
Area Director Johnny is still looking for Alumni videos to show during August RA Training. Please see his message below and send your videos by the end of the week!! __________________________________________________________________________________________________
Greeting RA Alumni!
I hope all is well! I am currently the Area Director of Towers and also an RA Alumni myself (2007 Graduate, RA in Towers & Larned). I am reaching out to all Alumni to help assist us on a project for RA Training this year. We are hoping to create a video for this year’s crop of RAs and motivate them for the upcoming year with your advice and experience. Here is what we need:
A 1-3 minute video of yourself talking about some of the following points:
o What being an RA meant to you.
o How the RA experience has helped you after leaving FSU (or FSC for many of you…)
o One word describing your RA experience. o Describe a meaningful interaction with a resident or group of residents that had an impact on you.
o Advice for RAs beginning their journey.
We hope to share a diverse set of voices for the incoming RA class and give them a sense of belonging to the position. Your stories will be greatly appreciated! Now for the technical stuff. For these videos, please make sure that the lighting is decent to avoid shadows and there are no external noises that distract from your message. If you use your phone, make sure that its filmed widescreen (hold phone horizontal), to make all the clips appear similar. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me directly. These videos can be emailed to [email protected]. Thank you in advance to everyone that participates! And once the video is complete I will make sure to upload it.
Finally, we are also looking for alumni to come to campus during RA Training to be a part of a panel. Our initial idea is for it to be after working hours, sometime during the week of Aug 20th. If you are interested, please feel free to send me a message! Thank you! If please share this with fellow RA Alumni who may not be a part of this group! I encourage you to invite them to like this page.

We had a great surprise in Res Life today - Liz Stapleton ‘08 (Horace Mann RA) stopped by to say hello! Great to see her and glad we were able to get her back into Horace Mann to do a “round” for old times sake!
