A Message from our Board of Directors and Head of School:
MetroWest Jewish Day School Announces Final Academic Year After 25 Years of Service
Since welcoming our first students in 2003, we have had the privilege of providing a unique and deeply personalized Jewish education to more than 300 students in our community. For over two decades, MetroWest Jewish Day School (MWJDS) has served as a nurturing academic and Jewish home for children and families throughout the Metrowest area.
Founded by Steven and Renée Finn and sustained by a core group of dedicated, long-term supporters of Jewish education, the school is rooted in the belief that students thrive when their individual learning styles and personalities are understood and honored, while maintaining high standards of academic excellence. Over the years, we have served students from more than 30 towns, ranging from Jamaica Plain to Worcester. Our graduates have gone on to attend Jewish high schools, other independent schools, and their local public high schools.
As we mark our 25th anniversary this year, we share the news that this will be our final year of operation.
Despite extensive and sustained efforts by our Board, school leadership, faculty, staff, and committed community members to identify a viable path forward, we have concluded that our model of highly individualized Jewish day school education is no longer sustainable in the Metrowest area of Boston. This decision was made with great care and reflection.
We are deeply committed to ensuring a thoughtful, compassionate, and supportive transition for our students, families, and staff over the coming year. We remain steadfast in our responsibility to care for this community through the conclusion of the academic year and beyond.
Throughout our history, our faculty, staff, Board, and families have worked together to sustain MWJDS because we have believed profoundly in its mission. Our educational model has supported a wide range of learners, and we are immensely proud of the impact we have had on our students and their families. We hope that elements of our individualized approach to teaching and learning will continue to influence Jewish day schools throughout Greater Boston and beyond.
In support of continued Jewish learning and identity building, Steven and Renée Finn have generously committed to providing tuition scholarship support for current students who continue their Jewish day school education through eighth grade. Additional details will be communicated to interested families.
As we prepare to conclude our final academic year, we extend our deepest gratitude to the families who have entrusted us with their children’s education and to our founders and pillars for their extraordinary vision, leadership, and longstanding commitment to Jewish education in our community. In April 2026, we will come together as a community for a final gala celebration, honoring the vision, generosity, dedication, and people who shaped MetroWest Jewish Day School’s 25-year legacy.

A BIG thank you to our guest speaker, Joel Fabian, a Holocaust survivor who told us his incredible stories of his family before, during, and after the war. Each person in the room, regardless of age, was thoroughly engaged. It is so critical to hear such eyewitness testimony while we still can.
