Any and all Framingham State students are welcomed and encouraged to join the Nutrition Networking Group to help spread awareness and education of healthy eating, cooking and fitness. We are working on finding meeting times that work for everyone, so for now follow the page for updates. The Holiday HodgePodge, The Nutrition Career Symposium, and the Cook Book project with Bridle Path Apartments!

The Nutrition Club is so proud to have been a part of the Cook Book project with Bridle Path Apartments, Boston Senior Home Care, and POAH communities using a grant they received from Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Eating Well at Every Age! Our members did nutritional analyses and gave nutrition tips for resident recipes, and helped launch the cookbook with a cooking demo featuring fresh fruits and vegetables from Fair Foods.

" Cows are the largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions
" The production of 2.2 lbs. of beef creates the same size carbon foot print as driving one car 99 miles
" The production of beef requires twenty-eight times more land and eleven times more water when compared to poultry and pork products.
" The average American daily eats the equivalent of beef found in 3 hamburgers
Beef's Impact on Your Health
" Diets high in red meat consumption are linked to colin cancer and heart disease
" Cancer and heart disease are two of the five leading causes of death among young adults ages 20-49 in Massachusetts (2017)
" Beef products usually contain more saturated fat than other protein sources
" Replacing some of the beef in a recipe with a favorite vegetable is a delicious way to reduce health risks associated with red meat consumption

Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes 09/18/2017

There is a great opportunity to get involved in diabetes education and awareness with the "Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes" hosted by the American Diabetes Association. The event in Worcester is this coming Sunday September 24th, but there will be another event in Boston on October 21st!

Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes It starts with YOU! Take the lead, fundraise for a cure. Together we can Stop Diabetes.

Hello Everyone! Tomorrow is the big day! Sustainability Day will be held in the McCarthy dining hall from 11:30am to 1:30pm. It's free to get in and there will be lots of nutrition information and free samples. Come join in on the fun!
