Very appropriate for Olympic time and hopefully very inspirational

Michelle Carter is a three-time Olympian who struggled a great deal in school.

As a child, Carter was diagnosed with dyslexia. Fortunately, her parents were very supportive, and she received tutoring three to four times a week. By middle school, Carter’s grades improved.

Carter had a propensity for track and field, excelling in shot put. At 15, she made the U.S. National Team. After high school, she was awarded a full track and field scholarship to the University of Texas.

In 2016, at the Olympic games in Rio, Carter became the first U.S. woman ever to win a gold medal in the shot put competition.

In 2018, she was inducted into the Texas Track and Field Hall of Fame.

Carter credits her success to her parents and her faith. “God has given me the ability to do all things through him.”

If you think your child has some of the signs of dyslexia or if you do please feel free to contact us.

The early signs of dyslexia before a child enters school are usually related to speech and language skills.

People often have a hard time grasping that cute, bright, creative toddlers are delayed in developmental skills. It’s still a stigma to suggest early intervention or it may not exist in some parts of the world.

1. Did they start talking later than expected?

2. Was their speech hard to understand ?

3. Did they have trouble finding words at times?

4. Did they mispronounce words in “ cute ways” or seem shy/stubborn/prefers to observe?

5. See the list for more questions. You don’t need to say “ yes” to all of them.
