English majors and friends took part in the Department’s annual Concord trip on Oct. 5!
Students visited North Bridge, The Old Manse, Orchard House, and Walden Pond. Each destination showed the bonds linking Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Henry David Thoreau, and Louisa May Alcott - writers who are recognized as key figures in the development of the 19th-century intellectual and literary movement known as Transcendentalism.
