We enjoyed delicious donuts from Country Donuts and coffee from Conscious Cup Coffee Roasters -small businesses supporting small businesses ☕✨
After treats, we had some messy play fun (of course 😉), and it was the perfect way to celebrate together.
Thank you to everyone who was able to make it to our class party! It was such a special morning and we are so grateful for our sweet community 💛🌲🌻

✨ Big Little Roots News ✨
I’ve been holding this close until I could share it with our current families.
At the end of this school year, Little Roots Forest School will be closing its current doors — not as an ending, but as the beginning of a beautiful new chapter 🌱

We are moving to a brand-new location STILL right here in Fox River Grove, just on the other side of the tracks, nestled closer to the river and streams 🌊🍃 Think frog and turtle sightings, muddy boots, and endless outdoor wonder 🐸🐢✨

This move is extra special because our new home will be my childhood home 🏡💛 — a space full of memories, imagination, and now, room for Little Roots to grow in its own unique way 🌈
With the move and licensing process, we will be taking the remainder of the 2026 school year off and will be reopening in 2027 — refreshed, rooted, and ready for new adventures 🍂

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to all the incredible families who have been part of Little Roots 🤎 I’ve had the joy of watching so many amazing children and families grow, explore, and thrive, and I’m endlessly grateful for the friendships and community we’ve built along the way ✨

Most of our current families will be returning with siblings in tow 👣 which means spaces will be very limited when we reopen! 🌿 Be sure to follow along for updates as this next chapter unfolds 💫

Here’s to new roots, wild adventures, and all the magic still to come ✨🌲

❄️ ☃️First Snow Magic! ❄️☃️
The Little Roots climber and giant tunnel has officially transformed into a giant igloo, and the blue tarp makes the whole inside glow the coolest winter blue! The kids crawled, explored, and turned it into their own snowy hideout.

And of course… first snow of the year means hot cocoa + snacks at our outdoor table 🧤☕️✨

The first week at Little Roots Forest School has come to a close, and one thing is for certain, we have the most magical group of kiddos! ✨ 🎩

Today, we explored the back woods 🌳and met our beloved chickens🐔 We enjoyed our snack in the gazebo and found a GIANT puffball mushroom! 🍄 In true forest school fashion, the children's imaginations took the lead!! The children decided to paint it which then turned into decorating it with sticks and treasures. THEN, it became a cake…complete with a "Happy Birthday" serenade! 🎶🎂

Can you believe that all of these creative ideas came from the kiddos themselves?! Moments like these we feel so lucky to have families with us who TRULY appreciate the value of true, play-based education. 🙏🥹💚🌻🥰🙌

🌞🌿 We’re absolutely overjoyed as we gear up for the new school year ahead!! 🌿🌞

Just yesterday, we held our school meet-up and supply drop-off, and it was such a wonderful experience to reconnect with everyone! It’s heartwarming to see our community grow, and this year, we’re thrilled to welcome 8 new kiddos into our Little Roots family! 🌱🌻🌱

During our gathering yesterday, we had nearly 50 people join us, including our enrolled kiddos and their siblings!🥳🥳👧👦 What a fantastic group we have!!

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you 🙌 for your unwavering support of our school. Your contributions, whether big or small, make a huge difference in our children’s educational journey 🥹🥰, and we can’t wait to share all the magic with you!!! ✨️✨️
