A most excellent day was had by all. 🇺🇸

A few glimpses from today's Camp Flintlock Colonial Faire—when our little corner of North Carolina stepped back into the 18th century for the day.

There was spinning and weaving, quill & ink and old-fashioned remedies. Music drifted through the trees, dancers took hands, young visitors tried their hand at the skills of another century, and curious minds gathered around tables to discover how people once worked, dressed, played, and lived.

And everywhere we looked, there were conversations, questions, laughter, and discoveries being made.

More than 300 good people journeyed through our gates today, and we could not have asked for finer company.

Our sincerest thanks to the historians, demonstrators, musicians, dancers, vendors, volunteers, historic sites and organizations who shared their knowledge and talents with us—and to every family who chose to spend part of their Saturday wandering through history.

We hope ye departed with tired feet, a curious mind, and perhaps a story or two to tell. ❤️

Until we meet again, good friends — Huzzah!

And so they came. 🇺🇸

The fifes sounded. The drums beat. Dancers took the floor. Quills scratched across paper, tomahawks flew, craftsmen shared their trades, merchants displayed their wares, and history came alive beneath the canvas.

Throughout the encampment there were muskets, militia, music, dancing, games, crafts, demonstrations—and more than 300 guests who came to spend the day with us.

And what a glorious day it was!

To the living historians, historic sites, demonstrators, vendors, volunteers, musicians, and friends who joined our encampment: we offer our most heartfelt thanks.

And to every family who journeyed to Camp Flintlock, tried something new, asked a question, shared a laugh, listened to a story, or simply wandered awhile among the tents...

We thank thee for coming.

For one fine August day, the 21st century seemed just a little farther away—and the world of the 18th century felt very near indeed.

Huzzah for the 2026 Camp Flintlock Colonial Faire—and huzzah to the 300+ souls who made it so! 🇺🇸🥁

The encampment stands ready. 🇺🇸

The canvas has been raised. The cabins await their visitors. The grounds are prepared, and for this evening, all is still.

But come the morrow...

The fifes shall sound.
The drums shall beat.
Muskets shall fire.
Dancers shall take the floor.
Young recruits shall join the militia.
Merchants and historians shall fill the encampment.

And these quiet grounds will come alive with the sights and sounds of the 18th century.

After weeks of preparation, Camp Flintlock's Colonial Faire is nearly here.

So rest well tonight, good people. Gather your family and make ready for the journey.
