Next week we start our youngest yogi’s class at . Our “under the sea theme” will introduce five finger breathing technique, a yoga story where our forward fold (great way to stretch the spine and relax the mind) will become a jelly fish. Story telling is great way to get kids involved and help them to remember the poses! We will do a yoga song, game, jelly fish craft and end with a book to help work on slowing down after our under sea adventure! Spaces are limited! Series begins 8/16 and will be 6 consecutive classes for $72. Class is designed for ages 2-6 and starts at 10:45. Care givers are welcome to participate or wait in the lobby. Yoga mats are provided!

Back to school anxiety? As parents, we might be ready for the fall schedule (cooler weather😅) and all that the school year brings. For children the big transition can be hard. Big feelings, big outbursts, bigger tears. So some fun headphones, audible book from the library and some belly breathing are a way to help children feel a bit of control. The headphones help to focus on only one sense. Placing something on the belly, such as a stuffed animal, etc can help with the intentional breathing.

Talking about it helps too. We keep a bin in the “hub” our house. It is easily seen and remembered. When a child feels overwhelmed, irritable, anxious or bickering with a sibling, suggest something from the bin. Discuss why it is being used, then a follow up discussion how the body feels after the belly breathing, etc. If the child starts off as anxious, is given tools that they can access easily, then identify a good result afterwards, they can see that they have some control!

Wishing everyone a wonderful school year! Looking forward to seeing my youngest yogi’s next Tuesday (8/16) 10:45am at Village Play in Fountain Inn!

Quiet the voice telling you to do more and be more, and trust that in this moment, who you are, where you are at, and what you are doing is enough. You will get to where you need to be in your own time. Until then, breathe. Breathe and be patient with yourself and your process. You are doing the best you can to cope and survive amid your struggles, and that’s all you can ask of yourself. It’s enough. You are enough.

In our last session of homeschool yoga, we incorporated nature. How being outside can help us feel grounded. We made zen gardens with kinetic sand, that were used in last few minutes of class. The little yogi’s tended to their garden as I read books or we practiced our breathing exercises. A great way to relax after games and stretching.

Then I highly recommend a field trip to in Hendersonville, NC. The whimsical Fairy trail is full of shade and great for the whole family. The therapy garden was a great place to reflect on the beauty of nature, how beneficial it is to our nervous system and our yogi practice - no matter your age.

When we slow down, take deep breaths, life truly is magical!

(Fairy Trail is donation based and runs through August)

So wander a little....breath a lot and love each day as the blessing it is. ✨Namaste✨

Sometimes life goes too fast for my brain to catch up. Sometimes my brain feels like this craft space in our home 🤯 The end of spring came with some unexpected surprises and unplanned stress. I felt disconnected, ungrounded and BURNT out. Social media has a way of taking the joy from me. Then I have moments where I regret not sharing those “Aha” moments of classes/parenthood/life/homeschool. Where I reflect on how far I have come as a parent and I know that I have more to share. So just like a drishti (used in yoga as a “point of focus” ) which we learn in a kids yoga class to help with balance poses...I’m constantly working on my own balance. I circled a quote that hangs in my brainstorming place that is now being overtaken by an avid sewer and a creative dot painter....

“If you want to Change the World, go Home and LOVE your family”.

That is MY drishti as I stumble and try to find balance on my journey of motherhood. My focus in an unbalanced world. So find your drishti. Be comfortable with the stumble and the backslide. When you feel the will to move forward with your passion, find your drishti, your focus, lock that stare and feel strong.

So feeling the passion again and working on that fall schedule! I am grateful for everyone that has been on this journey with me!

🧘‍♂️Chair Yoga🧘‍♀️ and a change of scenery (local library reserved room) is how we accomplished school today. It’s hoooooot🔥 in SC and even though we homeschool year round, we feel the need to change it up and are ready for summer!!!

The most common question I get from adults, “how can I start doing yoga, I’m not flexible?” Start in bed or in a chair. Anyone can do yoga, and by starting with just 10 minutes a day at your desk, you can relieve aches and pains or help a child focus!

We had so much fun “Going on a Bear Hunt” today with our little yogi’s! The activities for this book are endless and the repetitive text makes for a great yoga flow!!!

We can’t go over it! (Cobra pose)
We can’t go under it! (Downward dog)
We’ve got to go through it! (Jump forward)

Then we made our own binoculars and did our bear walk UNDER the limbo, Hopped OVER the balance pods and went THROUGH the balance buckets!

Great literature makes for great movement!!!

1 More class for the little yogi’s then we will be breaking for the summer! Our little yoga pirates will be making treasure map and going on a sea adventure...with lots of boat pose!

Crab Walk Limbo! For our littlest yogi beach themed class, we incorporated this game. Activities that cross the child’s midline are great for physical and emotional development in children - connecting the right and left hemispheres of the brain! Playing with purpose😍!

2 more weeks until spring session ends! DM to see if drop ins available for your child age 2-6 to try a class!

Last week we planted a spring garden (inside...pollen free😂🤧...thank you spring in South Carolina!) with our toddler yoga class! We practiced our flower pose and used fine motor skills to scrunch up tissue paper for our art project! Art helps kids wind down after an active class and the kids are so proud of their handy work!

“The Very Hungry Caterpillar” and Earth Day were great inspiration for our 🧘‍♀️Kids Yoga🧘‍♂️ classes this week! Our littlest yogi’s had fun jumping, dancing and rolling into their “yoga mat” cocoons. Cobblers pose was our beautiful butterfly. Our homeschool class did some stretching as we discussed how to help the Earth for Earth Day! Toe-ga with Pom poms for balance and games helped with our boat and plow pose. Ball passes work for great midline exercises! So many ways to incorporate yoga and movement into play based learning!

5 classes left in each class before summer begins! 2 drop in spots available if your little yogi wants to try!
