We’ve had a couple of cases of head lice reported to us. We will treat any areas in our facility that may be infectious. Often, with lice, parents won’t inform us because of the stigma that comes with it. Please let us know and your child’s school know, and any other appropriate facilities so we all can take the necessary steps to stop the spread.

Please add our director, Mandy Cotham and her family to your prayer lists. Her husband, Russell, has been on the kidney transplant list for 3 1/2 years. Well, last night, he got ‘the call’. He will be receiving his new kidney this morning.
We will miss Mandy tremendously while she is by Russell’s side, helping him recover. What a blessing that has been answered.
We also pray for the family of the gentleman that lost his life, but chose to give life through organ donation.

LOST & FOUND + SCOOTER PICK UP

Unfortunately, our Lost & Found is overflowing! This past Friday, we laid out all of the items and walked the kids around to see if they could find anything that belonged to them. We have the remaining items outside in a buggy for parents to look through. Monday, 10/5, will be the last day to claim Lost & Found items. After that, all unclaimed items will be donated.

We also went through all of our scooters to make room for the kids who are currently enrolled. Any scooters that belonged to children who no longer attend, or scooters that do not have a name on them, have been placed on the side of building for parents to pick up this week. We attempted to contact the families of all scooters that had names on them. (Video of the scooters is in the comments).

Thank y’all so much for your help in collecting your children’s belongings and helping us keep things organized!

Homework time isn’t always the most fun part of the day for our kids — and honestly, it can be a rough time for everyone. But we spend almost an hour, and sometimes even longer, each day working with the kids to make sure they get their homework done.

Why? Because we want them to go home with their schoolwork finished, giving them more time in the evening for family time, activities, and time to be a kid in the afternoons.

Tuesday was a perfect example of what makes Spike’s special. Mr. Spike was able to sit with one of our students for almost half of homework time, working with him to help him finish some work he was having trouble with. We don’t have time to sit with each kid one on one, but we try to make sure they all get as much of their work done as possible.

We may not be perfect, but I can promise you, our heart and soul goes into everything we do here at Spike’s.

Registration for non-residents: $85
