Today, we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

At Kids Connection, we believe that even our youngest learners can begin to understand the importance of kindness, fairness, respect, and standing up for what is right. Dr. King’s message reminds us that small acts—listening, including others, showing empathy—can make a meaningful difference.

Today is a day to pause, reflect, and talk with children about how we can care for one another and help make our community a more just and compassionate place. ❤️💙

🐝 3rd Annual Scripps National Spelling Bee @ Kids Connection 🐝

What happens when confidence, preparation, and academic rigor come together? An incredible Spelling Bee! ❤️💙

Our students competed through round after round, exhausting word lists and showing remarkable focus and perseverance.

K–2 Bee Highlights: 📚 27 participants | 🔁 9 rounds
🥇 Aiden (2nd grade) 🥈 Avery (2nd grade) 🥉 Leonard (1st grade)

Grades 3–5 Bee Highlights: 📚 22 participants | 🔁 34 rounds
🥇 Violet (5th grade) 🥈 Nora (3rd grade) 🥉 Viana (3rd grade)

Violet, Nora, and Viana will move on to the Scripps online test in February, with the opportunity to qualify for the regional competition in San Ramon.

A heartfelt thank-you to the parent volunteers who helped support the event by calling words, serving as judges, and so much more—we truly appreciate your time and involvement.

We are incredibly proud of all our spellers for stepping up, challenging themselves, and representing KC so well. 🐺✨

Welcome back, KC students! ❤️💙
We are so excited to kick off 2026 together and fill our campus with laughter, learning, and connection once again.

Yesterday, our teachers and staff spent the day in professional development mode—recharged after winter break and inspired for the year ahead. We took time to reconnect with our mission, dig into valuable feedback from our parent survey so we can serve our families even better, and continue strengthening what we call The Power of Connection.

One of the highlights? Our buddy teams! Staff from different programs teamed up to get to know one another better and learn how every part of Kids Connection works together. They collaborated in a project-based STEAM challenge to design their ideal staff lounge (relaxation pods, swimming pools, and coffee bars may have made an appearance ☕😄).

We wrapped up the day with our own KC-style Shark Tank—Coyote Den—where teams pitched the magic and special touches of their programs to one another. The energy, pride, and excitement were contagious.

We’re feeling inspired, aligned, and ready to welcome our students back today. Here’s to a wonderful start to the new year! ✨

🎶 Oh what fun it is to be a KC student! 🎶

From Preschool through 5th grade, our campus has been filled with winter wonderland–inspired learning, creativity, and joy. ❄️✨ These highlights are just a sampling of the many fun and meaningful ways our teachers tied learning into the holiday season across classrooms.

Take a peek at some of the incredible work our students created:

✏️ Kindergarten Writers Workshop: Students combined writing and art to create beautiful pieces that showcase both visual art techniques and their growing writing skills.

⛄ 1st Grade Math in Action: This snowy project went beyond numbers on a page! Students “snowed off” their tens and ones by using a snowman’s scarf and buttons to represent numbers—hands-on learning at its best.

🦌 Pre-K & TK Reindeer Creations: You know Dasher and Dancer… but our youngest students dreamed up their own special reindeer friends, building creativity and fine motor skills along the way.

🍪 Opinion Writing, Holiday Edition: Do you like gingerbread cookies? Our students sure had opinions! They wrote thoughtful opinion pieces and paired them with giant cookie creations.

🎨 Clever’s Art Corner: One of many amazing submissions to our Elementary art wall—an ever-changing display of creativity right outside our Elementary Head of School’s office.

❄️ 3rd Grade Winter Displays: Students decked the halls with snowflakes turned snowmen, bringing festive flair and imagination to their learning spaces.

These moments capture what learning at Kids Connection is all about—creativity, curiosity, and meaningful academic growth, all wrapped in joy.

The days leading into winter break were filled with music, celebration, and so much pride across our school community ✨

Our preschoolers kicked off the festivities by sharing holiday songs connected to the traditions they’ve been learning about in class. Their performances were filled with joy, confidence, and plenty of smiles—for both the children and those watching.

The very next day, our elementary students took the stage at the Hillbarn Theatre for the Holiday Musical Showcase. They performed a festive medley of holiday songs celebrating different cultures and traditions from around the world. In preparation, students explored the meaning behind each celebration, learned songs and choreography, and stepped into speaking roles, song introductions, and solos. Our 5th graders even showcased their ukulele skills, a reflection of the musical growth they’ve developed through their music classes.

While these performances are always joyful and memorable, they also serve an important purpose. Memorizing music supports cognitive development, performing builds confidence and courage, and learning about traditions beyond one’s own expands perspective and understanding.

These moments beautifully reflect what we believe at Kids Connection: when school is filled with joy, creativity, and meaningful experiences, students grow not just academically—but as confident, curious, lifelong learners. ❤️💙

Our 5th graders had the wonderful opportunity to attend The Nutcracker ballet at the Cañada College theater 🩰✨

This magical holiday classic was brought to life by Ballet America in collaboration with the Academy of American Dance, and it was truly spectacular. In preparation for the performance, students explored the music of The Nutcracker in Music class with Mrs. Fong and listened to an audio version of the timeless story—building excitement all week long.

One very special highlight was cheering on one of our students, Neko, who graced the stage in the production. Her poise, confidence, and joy made the experience even more meaningful for her classmates, who were thrilled to see a friend bring such magic to life.

This field trip captured the spirit of the season beautifully and left our students filled with wonder and awe—a truly enchanting memory to cherish. ❤️💙

✨ Wishing our community a warm and joyful end to Hanukkah ✨

At Kids Connection, we love celebrating traditions in ways that help students learn about one another and the world beyond themselves. This week, our classrooms were filled with meaningful moments as families joined us to share what Hanukkah means to them.

We were lucky to welcome two very special guests—Asher's Namma and Nana—who taught our Kindergarten and 1st Grades classes about the holiday through stories, songs, crafts, and a delicious snack. It was a beautiful opportunity for students to learn firsthand, ask questions, and celebrate traditions together.

These moments are a powerful example of how we embrace diversity and foster belonging at Kids Connection—creating space for students to share who they are, learn from one another, and build understanding with curiosity and respect. ❤️💙
