Today, I had the opportunity to visit every one of our schools—and I couldn't be more proud of what I saw.
I saw students greeted with smiles...and those smiles returned.
I saw classrooms filled with creativity, excitement, and teachers who have poured their hearts into preparing for an amazing year.
I saw office teams, custodians, maintenance staff, bus drivers, administrators, instructional assistants, food service teams, and so many others working together to make every child feel welcomed, safe, and excited to learn.
One of my favorite moments was riding a Mount Comfort bus this morning. Along the route, families were outside waving, taking pictures, and celebrating the first day of school. I even met grandparents who had driven 30 minutes just to experience their grandchild's very first bus ride. Those are memories that last a lifetime.
What makes Mt. Vernon special isn't just our beautiful schools or talented staff—it's our culture. It's the kindness, positivity, teamwork, and genuine care our people show every single day.
To our families, thank you for trusting us with your children. We are honored to be part of their journey, and we're excited for everything this school year will bring.
It's going to be a great year to be a Marauder!

The Edward M. Kennedy Institute’s Senate chamber is a full-scale (1:1) replica of the actual U.S. Senate chamber in the Capitol in Washington, D.C. It was built using the original architectural drawings and dimensions, so it has the same size, layout, seating arrangement, rostrum, galleries, and overall appearance. The primary difference is that the EMK chamber includes modern technology for educational simulations and public programs, whereas the chamber in Washington is the working chamber where the U.S. Senate conducts its official business.
