Well done to Giancarlo Esposito for leading the show Parish, on Netflix, where the Tongai family is a Shona speaking business family based in New Orleans. The actors do well to converse in Shona, although they are not Shona origin. What led to Shona being the language of choice for this show? I imagine the Zim to SA migration plot is the reason, but there are many other languages in Zimbabwe.
