👌We appreciated the opportunity to provide solutions and have some honest dialogue with Dr. Licata and his staff tonight. Still so much work to do — please sign up to attend one of the next three sessions, and bring the whole PTA!
🐦🔥Big shout-out to the PTA parents from J.T. Stevens Elementary who showed up in force to advocate for solutions. They have an amazing and underutilized Applied Learning Program. Expand choice options in the district to boost enrollment. Make the transfer process easier and more streamlined. That is a solution!
👏Tough questions were asked tonight, and we're very proud of those who advocated for our students. The students are always first — they are our why. We care.
🤞This is a step in the right direction toward rebuilding trust, but only if tangible changes are implemented by Dr. Licata and his team.
🤝Sharing graphics with the well-informed people in the room about WHY we were taken over does NOT build trust. Collaboration on HOW we improve student outcomes together will. Listen.
👍Increased regular dialogue and collaboration with the PTA Presidents from every campus in our district is a lofty goal, but would net serious impact!
They could lift the voices of the parents and teachers of their campus.
🍎It's our opinion that teacher retention is one of the largest issues to solve. The daily micromanagement of every single minute is unsustainable. You can't get sustainable student outcome growth if a huge chunk of our experienced and valued master teachers leave.
🙏Safety is a basic need. Listen to them. Collaborate. Protecting teachers IS putting students first.
