🍃 Every leaf has a job… and so do we.

This week, our Cosmic Summer explorers learned how leaves work and the important role they play in helping plants grow and survive.

To bring their learning to life, they observed real leaves in nature and then painted their own pretend leaves, exploring shape, color, and function through hands-on creativity.

Through this experience, they discovered one of Montessori’s most beautiful lessons: everything is connected. Just as every leaf helps a tree thrive, each child can make a difference through kindness, curiosity, and care.

Today we're celebrating someone who has shaped the hearts and minds of so many children, our incredible Founder and Director, Emily McDermott!

Emily's unwavering belief that every child deserves to be seen, respected, and celebrated as the unique individual they are is the foundation upon which Near Southside Montessori was built.

Her grace, patience, kindness, and dedication inspire our students, support our families, and guide our educators every single day.

This week at Cosmic STEAM Summer Camp, our infant campers are diving into the wonderful world of sensory play using nothing more than shaving cream and water! 🫧✨

Sensory experiences like these encourage creativity, strengthen fine motor skills, inspire scientific exploration, and help children build confidence through hands-on discovery. Best of all? They make learning unforgettable.

Our infant Cosmic STEAM Summer Camp campers have been exploring sensory play this week, and while it may look like simple fun, so much learning is happening!

Sensory play encourages children to:
- Explore with confidence
- Develop fine motor skills
- Build creativity and imagination
- Strengthen language and problem-solving skills
- Engage all of their senses through hands-on discovery

We love creating experiences that inspire curiosity while making learning joyful.

This week at Cosmic STEAM Summer Camp, we're diving into the fascinating world of weather and Earth's atmosphere. Yesterday, our campers became meteorologists-in-training as they conducted exciting rain experiments and explored how weather works through hands-on discovery.

We love watching curiosity turn into confidence as children ask questions, experiment, and uncover the "why" behind the world around them. 🌈☀️⛈️

We're excited to share that the wonderful Turtle Creek Chorale will be performing this evening, right here at the beautiful Broadway Church. Don't miss it!
