๐ดโ๏ธ Mustang Minute is back! โ๏ธ๐ด
This week, our Kโ2 Mustangs are practicing blending syllables together! ๐
Syllables are parts of words, and blending means putting those parts together to make a whole word.
Try saying the parts slowly and have your child blend them together:
๐ง cup + cake = cupcake
โ๏ธ sun + shine = sunshine
๐ bee + hive = beehive
๐ back + pack = backpack
You can make it fun by clapping the syllables or saying them like a robot before blending them together! ๐ค๐
Practice around the house, in the car, or while shopping by breaking words into parts and letting your child guess the whole word. Blending syllables helps build strong reading and listening skills! ๐๐
Be sure to watch todayโs Mustang Minute video and practice blending together!

๐ดโ๏ธ Itโs time for another Mustang Minute! โ๏ธ๐ด
This week, our Kโ2 Mustangs are practicing isolating the initial sound in words! ๐
The initial sound is the very first sound you hear in a word. For example:
๐ apple starts with /a/
๐ถ dog starts with /d/
๐ bus starts with /b/
๐ sun starts with /s/
Try this fun activity at home or on the go:
๐ Look around the house, grocery store, or neighborhood and ask your child:
โWhat sound does that word start with?โ
You can practice with items like:
๐ฅ milk โ /m/
๐ชฅ toothbrush โ /t/
๐ฒ bike โ /b/
Hearing beginning sounds helps children build strong reading and spelling skills! ๐๐
Watch todayโs Mustang Minute video and practice those beginning sounds together!
๐ดโ๏ธ Mustang Minute is here! โ๏ธ๐ด
Our first Mustang Minute focuses on RHYMING! ๐
Rhyming words are words that have the same ending sounds. For example:
๐งฆ sock & clock
๐ช door & floor
๐ช chair & bear
๐๏ธ bed & red
This week, challenge your child to become a โrhyme detectiveโ around the house or neighborhood! See how many rhyming words they can find while playing, riding in the car, walking outside, or helping at home. ๐๐ก๐ณ
Rhyming helps young readers hear sounds in words, which is an important early reading skill for our Kโ2 Mustangs! ๐๐
Be sure to watch todayโs Mustang Minute video and join the rhyming fun!
