What's up shooters? I saw today's gone is a group chat and had to do it. The Barrett MRAD (Multi-Role Adaptive Design) in 338 Lapua Magnum & all of my number with will reflect this caliber unless otherwise stated. Let’s begin with the price tag which is between $5,200 & $6,000 & hurts my pockets just to look at. The MRAD is produced in the USA & also chambered in 260 Rem, 338NM, 300NM, 300WM, 308WM, 7mm Rem Mag, & 6.5Creed. The barrel comes in three different lengths, 20”, 24”, and 26” when you are really trying to reach out there. If 308 is your flavor, it only comes in 17” & 22”. All of the other calibers come standard in 24” only. Now for why you are paying so much. The body is composed of 7000 series Aluminum making it lightweight at 14.7lbs & with the collapsible stock, you can shorten it’s 49.4” length to about 40.” taking some of the fatigue of carrying that monster & making a much more portable system. It uses a bolt action system of operation that is said to be very smooth compared to the Barrett 50 which requires a little effort & it’s difficult to maintain a sight picture at the same time. It’s ambidextrous for all of my lefties. The MRAD has a fully customizable match grade trigger which comes stock at 3lbs, but you can adjust it to your heart's content. One of the cooler features is customization of the barrels by the end user. All you need is a torque wrench to loosen two bolts on the receiver & swap out the barrel, not just for length, but for caliber as well. No gunsmith required. Accuracy is the name of the game when it comes to longbows & the MRAD is no exception. It’s rifling is 1: 9.4”RH & is capable of sub-MOA out to 1,000m. When I say “capable of,” I mean you have the marksmanship skills required. Don’t think you are just going pick one of these up & start slamming steels out at 1K. I say that to say this. This isn’t a beginners rifle. Definitely not for your average shooter. But if you are about that high angle life, that would be a functional addition to your arsenal. That’s all I got for this one. I’m always open to question & suggestions. So like always stay practical & Keep it Ballistic!

Hello, Shooters. Hope everyone is still out there training. I'm still keeping up with the gun world & today I'm doing the Saint AR Pistol by Springfield Armory. Springfield is known for their reliable guns & the Saint pistol is no exception. Chambered in 5.56 x 45mm this 7.5" AR is a lightweight package with shooters in mind. Overall weight is 5 lbs 8 oz & an overall length of 26.5". The trigger is nickel boron coated, crisp, & feels anything but mil-spec. The blast diverter muzzle pushes sound & concussive away from the shooter & his/her flanks, much like the Noveske Pig. With a price tag of $989.00, it's a very impressive package & best of all no tax stamp required. If you want an accurate nail driver for some up close work. This should definitely be on your shopping list. Stay informed shooters & like always, keep it ballistic.

Learn Something Gun: Rates of Fire - The number of rounds a given weapon can fire in one minute, usually give in rounds per minute(RPM). Now there are three types: Sustained rate, which is a gunner's average rate of fire when effectively engaging targets. Rapid rate, which is a gunner's rate of fire when trying to game fire superiority (When you want the other guys to put their heads down and stop shooting). Last is the Cyclic rate, which is a gunner's rate of fire during combat emergencies like you are being overrun, and you have to break contact.

Learn Something Gun: Flash to Bang Distance method. This is a method used to determine the distance between yourself and a target or aggressor if you are being shot at from an unknown range. The speed of sound is roughly 331.2 meters per second(m/s) at 32F degrees and 343 m/s at 68F degrees. Most shooters use 330 m/s as a baseline because it's easier to do in your head under stress. At the time of the muzzle flash from the shot, immediately start counting (one-thousand-one, one-thousand-two, etc.). For every count, you get out before the snap of the bullet whizzing past you or a visual impact, multiply that number times 330 (or 343 if you want to be more specific) and you get a rough distance. Just a little tidbit of information. It's a lot more useful if you are dropping mortars on people but hey when you are being shot at any advantage you can use could save your life. Keep it Ballistic!!

Learn Something Gun: Today we learn the difference between Precision and Accuracy. It's a common misconception that precision and accuracy can be used interchangeably. Precision focuses on consistency with your shot placement. When someone talks about having a tight shot group, you are putting rounds close to rounds. Although you may be way off center, you are consistent. Accuracy focusing on getting close to the bullseye. It's usually what everyone focuses on. Accuracy is way easier to acquire than precision because with accuracy you can "slack" slightly in any one area of marksmanship and still retain some level of accuracy. Precision requires you to have absolute control over all factor and if you are slacking it's in one area. Whatever you are messing up, you are doing it the same way every time. Work on accuracy and then slow it down to tighten up that group and you'll be able to wreck on any given Sunday. Stay knowledgeable my friends, and like all aways. Keep it Ballistic!!

What's up shooters. Ballistic Customs is back in action with the gun posts. Facebook can’t hold us down. Today's gun is going to be the Galil Ace, which is priced at $1448.43 to $1,923.00. Produced in Israel by Israel Weapon Industries, the Galil Ace is chambered in 5.56 x 45mm(M4), 7.62 x 39mm(AK), and 7.62 x 51mm(.308). A modernization of the original Galil, making it lighter, better sealed, and more versatile. The barrel comes in 13.2in typically but can vary from 8.5in to 20.1in depending on model and if you want to shell out for a tax stamp or not. The body is composed of mostly steel and polymer in order to reduce the weight. The original Galil weighed just under 10lbs. With the upgrades, the ACE is 6.5lbs to 8.3lbs. It uses a gas blast or long stroke system of operation like the AK series but much more accurate. I have had the chance to take one to the range, and it feels really stable in semi and auto, although it still feels jumpy in full auto with both 7.62 Calibers. Professional opinion, it’s a blast to shoot and a solid replacement for you AK lovers. The new 4lbs two stage trigger is crisp, and with port sealing, you can take it out in any conditions and keep dirt out of your gun. A neat side note; you don’t need any tools to strip it down, unlike its predecessor. Well, that's all for today. Stay lethal & remember, Keep it Ballistic!!!
