September 15 - October 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month. And the Catholic Church in the United States has a lot to celebrate when it comes to our Hispanic community! About 36% of Catholics in the U.S. are Hispanic, a number that rises to a whopping 60% when we consider Catholics under the age of 18!

Here at undefined, we are grateful for the contributions and presence of all of our parishioners with roots in the Spanish-speaking world, and we encourage you to start making plans to celebrate today!

Did you know that 7 Fort Worth seminarians are studying for the priesthood at the Catholic University of America? Located in Washington, D.C., the Catholic University of America is the national university of the Catholic Church. September 5 – 6, a special collection will be held in support of the university. Your gift will ensure future Catholic leaders, clergy, religious and lay faithful are formed by faith-rooted education.

Prayerfully consider giving to this special collection.

September always has so much in store, but this year it's even better: Fulton Sheen, the great American archbishop and evangelist, will be beatified on Sep. 24!

See what else is going on in the Church this month in this video, and make sure to join us at undefined for Mass: undefined.

In last week's Gospel, Peter was granted the status of first Apostle and leader of the Church. Why the change? It seems that, even after all this time, he is still thinking too small. Jesus rebukes him and encourages him to lift his eyes and mind up and outward to the surprising way in which the Lord is going to save humanity.

This is undefined's role here at undefined - to get us to see God's plan, as big and "impractical" as it may be! That's how God works.

The Catholic Church celebrates the Passion or Martyrdom of St. John the Baptist. A first-century Jewish prophet, the miraculous son of Zechariah and Elizabeth, and the cousin and forerunner of Jesus Christ. He is famous for preaching repentance and baptizing people in the Jordan River, including Jesus himself.

As an adult, he lived as a hermit in the wilderness. After the Spirit inspired him, he went about preaching that the people should repent of their sins and be baptized to prepare for the Messiah.

Dear St. Monica, model of patience and perseverance, you never gave up on your Augustine, your son, as he meandered away from God and into a life of sin. Pray that we may remember that at times, we’ve all turned away from God. Ask God to bless us with a fraction of your patience, that we may bask in the fullness of joy that the love of God offers us. Through your intercession we ask God to watch over all mothers and heal, strengthen and bless the relationships they share with their children. In Jesus’s name we pray. Amen.
