Today we welcomed 7th graders from IDEA Edgecliff College Prep to the TCU Kinesiology Department! These bright and curious students explored our programs and learned about our diverse majors and research areas. Our faculty and graduate students shared insights from the SHAPE Lab, physical education, sport & exercise psychology, physical activity & disability, motor behavior, exercise physiology, prosthetics, and athletic training.
The students were incredibly engaged and eager to dive into the world of human movement and health. We loved having them on campus and can’t wait to see where their curiosity takes them next! 💜🐸

🏋️ Interested in studying the science, research and practical aspects of human movement physiology? Our master’s in kinesiology with an exercise physiology emphasis program is designed to prepare students for advanced studies, research positions and careers related to exercise and health.

📝 The coursework offers a strong foundation in both theoretical and applied physiology, along with research methods exploring various topics such as:

✅ Effects of strength and skill training on the neuromuscular function of the trained and untrained limbs.
✅ The influence of strength training on skeletal muscle hypertrophy and atrophy.
✅ Effects of community-based behavior change programs on metabolic and physiological markers associated with chronic disease risk.

💪 The Human Performance Team at TCU is comprised of athletic trainers, strength and conditioning coaches, nutritionists, physical therapists, physicians, chiropractors, massage therapists and coaches, to name a few, and they all play a role in the success of a student-athlete and the team as a whole.

🏈 In preparation for what would be an historic semifinal win for our Horned Frogs, Harris College reached out to these sports medicine team pros to share how they prep student-athletes for the football season, especially as the the team headed to the national championship.

Some of our movement science majors made a meaningful impact by conducting health screenings at the Special Olympics Texas Fall Classic this past weekend.

These screenings took place at the Healthy Athlete Village, offering our students invaluable hands-on experience in interacting with both children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
