Language Development of DHH is a course centered on understanding how Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) children develop language, with a strong focus on early intervention for infants and support for their families.
Pictured here, students are preparing for a special event that brings together families of infants and toddlers who are deaf or hard of hearing, blind or visually impaired, or deafblind, along with their caregivers and service providers, for a celebration of early learning through play!
One featured activity, Mr. Potato Head, has been thoughtfully adapted to include hearing aids and cochlear implants thanks to SLP graduate student Bridget Musleh. đ

Happy Earth Day from TCU COSD! Today is a reminder that connection goes beyond communicationâit includes how we care for our environment and the communities around us. As SLPs and future clinicians, we value connection in all formsâbetween people, communities, and the world we share. Small actions, thoughtful choices, and collective efforts can make a meaningful impact. Letâs continue to care for our planet and one another. đ

April is Parkinsonâs Awareness Month
Parkinsonâs disease can impact more than movementâit often affects voice, speech, and swallowing, making communication more difficult over time.
At TCU, our students have opportunities to learn about Parkinsonâs disease and expand their clinical skills through hands-on experiences in the Miller Speech and Hearing Clinic, where we offer SPEAK OUT!Âź voice therapy, as well as through externships at community programs like the Big Heart Center for Parkinsonâs Wellness.
As future SLPs, we are committed to supporting individuals with Parkinsonâs in staying heard, connected, and empowered through evidence-based care and advocacy.
