Congrats to Oliver J. โBusterโ LeBlanc, III with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette for being named AAPLโs 2025-26 Accredited University Program Director of the Year! This award recognizes a director who is respected and admired among AAPL Programs for going above and beyond to support and lead their program in a manner that fundamentally challenges their students and provides industry opportunities.
Oliver J LeBlanc, III has been a champion for the Professional Land & Resource Management Program at UL Lafayette B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration for over 20 years and has been director for 14 years. He is the studentsโ biggest advocate and continues to get them involved in AAPL and local LAPL - Lafayette Association of Professional Landmen events.
He gives them real life experiences as he was instrumental in getting Chevron to donate 96 acres in the New Iberia Oil Field. He has the students negotiate surface agreements, mineral and leasing agreements as well as visit and suggest new uses for the property. Each year these experiences give them real-world activities to learn and further their land knowledge.
A blend of professional and classroom experience helps Buster expertly guide students through several industry cycles. He is an articulate and charming advocate for the oil and gas industry and is well respected by his peers and his students. Many of his students stay in touch with him after they graduate due to the strong relationships that he builds.
We look forward to celebrating Buster and all he has accomplished at UL at our 72nd Annual Meeting June 24-26 in Salt Lake City! https://bit.ly/46lxhO6

If you called your doctor, plumber or mechanic and nobody answered, what would you do? Shortages of critical services have a profound impact on personal and business success. The current workforce providing field land services is at or near retirement age, and recruitment of new talent has been largely unsuccessful.
In this special session, a panel of industry experts assembled by AAPL's 2025-26 Strategic Planning Committee will discuss the challenges of maintaining an adequate, competent field landman workforce, including insufficient incentives, lack of training and professional recognition, and propose potential solutions to the looming issue.
"The Emerging Energy Crisis" article, which was also written by AAPLโs Strategic Planning Committee, delves into this important subject and can be read in the May/June Landman magazine or here โ https://bit.ly/4tUYXmD. Read the article now then head over to our Annual Meeting site to lock in your spot this summer in SLC โ https://bit.ly/46lxhO6.

Congratulations to the Fort Worth Association of Professional Landmen (FWAPL) for being named our 2025-26 Community Service Award winners! FWAPL has represented the land profession well by being incredibly active within their community, raising a significant amount of money for local charities.
Through philanthropic events like their golf tournament, pickleball tournament, clay shoot and AAPL grants, FWAPL has been able to support Texas Pythian Home Inc, Safehaven of Tarrant County, Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country Kerr County Flood Relief Fund, a Wish with Wings, Frontline Healing Foundation, National CMV Foundation and the FWAPL Scholarship Fund. In 2025, $26,000 in scholarships were awarded to 13 individuals.
FWAPLโs efforts have resulted in an average charitable impact per member close to seven times FWAPLโs annual membership dues! Thank you, FWAPL, for all that you do for the DFW community. Youโre also great neighbors to AAPL/NAPE Expo!
We look forward to honoring the incredible work our FWAPL members do beyond the energy industry this June in SLC during our 72nd Annual Meeting! https://bit.ly/46lxhO6
