That’s a wrap on a great three days.

The 2026 Annual Conference came home to this week — three days of historians, archivists, and educators from every corner of the state gathered at the just steps from our office.

We had the honor of putting our authors face-to-face with the readers and scholars our books are written for.

On the final day, kept our signing table busy, talking shop and signing copies of Bragging Rites: College Football’s Disputed Titles — his deep dive into the 40-plus contested national championships that fuel “the greatest bar argument in America.” 🏈 (Cover art by the late, legendary Jack Davis of Mad Magazine fame.)

To the Alliance, our authors, and everyone who stopped by the table — thank you for making the literary heart of Texas beat a little louder this week.

Until next time. 💜

just dropped a feature on Shots of Knowledge: The Science of Whiskey — the TCU Press book that turned a hallway conversation into a chemistry lesson anyone can taste.

Co-authored by TCU chemistry professor Eric Simanek and master distiller .robarnold, the book uses whiskey to make science relatable — chloroplasts as “a pouch of pancakes in syrup,” yeasts as “coal-fired power plants.” It became a beloved TCU course and earned a nod from the International Association of Culinary Professionals.

The science behind every pour starts long before the bottle. Read the full story magazine.tcu.edu and grab the book from TCU Press. (Link in bio).

The land has a story. So do we.

This September, TCU Press is bringing The Western Word to Live — and we’re doing something we’ve never done before.

Step into our Western Reading Room: a one-of-a-kind space where you can pull up a chair, browse our shelves, and lose yourself in the books that tell the story of Fort Worth, Texas, and the American West. Hell’s Half Acre, the Stockyards, the legends and the landmarks — it’s all here, waiting for you.

And it gets better. We’re bringing some of our favorite authors into the tent to talk, mingle, and swap stories with you. Where music meets the land, the written word meets its readers.

SuperFrog came by the TCU Press table “just to say hi” and we haven’t seen him since. He’s three chapters deep into The Art of Texas: 250 Years and refuses to put it down. 🐸📖

Can’t blame him — it’s THE definitive book on Texas art. 250 years, every major movement, the most comprehensive volume ever assembled on the subject. Edited by Ron Tyler. Gorgeous enough that even a horned frog in football gloves can’t stop turning pages.

We’ve got copies ready to ship and we want them in YOUR hands (no gloves required).
