Today’s total eclipse was way cooler than I thought it would be. Honestly, I didn't fully understand the hype surrounding this event. Witnessing it firsthand, though, was truly a remarkable experience that left me in awe.

As the moon gradually moved in front of the sun, the sky darkened, and it was as if someone had dimmed the lights, creating an almost eerie ambiance.

The air grew cooler too. It was a surreal sensation, feeling the temperature drop while still being surrounded by daylight.

Then, as the eclipse reached its peak, the most astonishing phenomenon occurred—the appearance of the corona. The sun's outer atmosphere, which is usually invisible to the naked eye, became visible as a glowing halo around the moon. It was a breathtaking sight that reminded me of the vastness and beauty of the universe.

Birds stopped singing, my dog Henry first barked at nothing then hunkered down to seemingly wait it out. The world seemed to hold its breath.

All said, this eclipse served as a reminder of the beauty and power of the universe.

Happy Valentine’s Day! 💖

On this day of love, I’ve found myself thinking about all the forms love takes:

1. Romantic love;

2. Familial love;

3. Platonic love;

4. Compassionate love;

5. Parental love;

6. Pet love;

And finally,

7. Self-love: This is the love and care we have for ourselves. It involves accepting and appreciating who we are, setting boundaries, practicing self-care, and prioritizing our own well-being.

Truthfully, self-love is my greatest challenge in this whole love thing. I have a well-developed inner critic that sometimes paralyzes me into inaction. I completely forget that loving myself is just as important as loving others.

Thankfully, I’ve learned, through lots of personal work and coaching hundreds of clients, that one of the greatest acts of self-love is challenging that busybody, noisy inner critic. That voice inside our heads that tells us we’re not good enough? It’s not telling the truth!

It’s time to eliminate that loudmouth and replace it with self-compassion and self-acceptance. If we don’t begin now, on Valentine’s Day, then when?

I hope you’ll join me in finding/rediscovering self-love! If that resonates with you at all, just follow my upcoming posts. I’ll share powerful coaching strategies and tips on how to silence that negative voice, cultivate self-love, and embrace your true worth. Together we’ll:

1. Identify and understand the inner critic;

2. Cultivate self-awareness;

3. Challenge negative self-talk;

4. Build self-compassion;

5. Practice gratitude and self-appreciation;

6. Seek and create a supportive environment.

Isn’t it time?!?!

Today I read a post that asked readers to comment with their word of the year for 2024. Lots and lots of the responses simply said, “survive.” Oooooh. Ouch! Somehow that struck me as such a sad way to anticipate a year of your life. To me it meant that the people who responded “survive” just wanted to get through it as fast as possible, hopefully unharmed and unscarred.

My immediate response was to think of the opposite of survive because I sure don’t want to just be getting by through the year. It didn’t take long to realize that the opposite of just surviving could be thriving.

Thriving means not just getting by, but actively growing, flourishing, and finding fulfillment in all aspects of your life. It means embracing challenges, seeking personal growth, and finding joy and purpose in your everyday experiences. Thriving allows you to go beyond mere survival and create a life that is meaningful and fulfilling to you. It means living with intention, pursuing your passions, and making the most of every opportunity. Thriving can bring a sense of vitality, happiness, and fulfillment to your life.

So friends, I choose thrive as my word for 2024! It fits real well with my tree of life logo too!

Now, how ‘bout you? Tell me what word you choose for 2024 and why?
I bet you come up with some clever ones cuz you’re smart and thoughtful and will find the perfect word to guide you through the year!

Cant wait to read your ideas!

New Year, New Lessons!

It’s been a challenging start to the new year, as I battled through a month-long respiratory illness. But you know what they say, every setback is a setup for a comeback! As a Life Coach, I believe that even in the toughest times, there are valuable lessons to be learned. Here are the top three lessons I discovered during my journey:

* Embrace Self-Care: Taking care of our physical and mental health is crucial. Being sick reminded me of the importance of prioritizing self-care and listening to our bodies. Remember, you can’t pour from an empty cup!

* Practice Patience: Patience truly is a virtue. During my recovery, I’ve learned the power of patience and the art of surrendering. Sometimes, we need to let go of control and trust that everything will work out in due time.

* Gratitude is Key: Gratitude has the power to transform our perspective. Being sick made me appreciate the little things in life that we often take for granted. Cultivating a grateful mindset can bring joy and positivity into every aspect of our lives.

Remember, setbacks are temporary, but the lessons learned are forever. Let’s embrace the challenges that come our way and grow stronger together.

What do you hope for this year that is different from other years?

That’s a question one of my spiritual teachers, Caroline Myss, discusses with her friends every new year.

I’ll be pondering it myself and sharing thoughts. In the meantime, I’d love to hear how’d you like 2024 to be different.
