MADAMA BUTTERFLY

Bass Performance Hall, April 10 and April 12

Beauty. Passion. Heartbreak. Eighty years after its first Fort Worth performance in 1947, Fort Worth Opera presents Giacomo Puccini’s sweeping masterpiece Madama Butterfly. This emotionally powerful opera traces the journey of a young Japanese woman whose love, hope, and steadfast devotion are tested in the most profound way.
Featuring rising Japanese soprano Miho Sakoda in the title role and Japanese American mezzo-soprano Kayla Nanto, this stunning production brings beauty and emotional depth to the stage of Bass Performance Hall.

It's September, which means it’s officially NTX Giving Day season and donations are OPEN! 📢

Last year, the generosity of the North Texas community helped raise a record breaking $70 million in support of North Texas nonprofits! Every year, this event helps more than 3,300 nonprofits continue their work to make our community a healthier, happier, and safer place to live and thrive.

North Texas Giving Day (NTGD) is officially 9/18/25, but you don’t have to wait until then to begin donating. Last year, we were able to raise several thousands of dollars which was enhanced by additional sums from the group that administers NTGD.

Use the link below to donate to the Fort Worth Japanese Society - and see your donation go further with the additional sums added from the group that adminsters NTGD!

💥HELP NEEDED💥

From our partners at Fort Worth Sister Cities:

"We are excited to be welcoming a delegation of Japanese nursing students from Nagaoka Sept. 11-17, and are in need of a few more host families. For those who are unable to home host, we are also in need of Japanese speaking day hosts to accompany the group to their appointments and to provide language support."

If you are interested in lending a helping hand, please reach out to Danielle at [email protected].

Our March Hinasatsuri themed luncheon was held on March 16. Beautiful presentation by Ashley Ohno on kimono types. Lunch was katsudon prepared by Sam Sumner, Irene Koscal and Harumi Sharp, miso soup by Julia Dunaway. Harumi also made a delicious tsukemono and we gas tea ice cream for dessert. We hope to see you May 18 for our gyoza and trivia luncheon. Tell everyone and be sure to come!
