The Lodge and Fort Worth Masonic Podcast sponsored a station for the Heights Masonic Lodge #1148 Second Annual Clay Shoot. Fantastic day even if we weren’t the best shooters!

In February 1731, Benjamin Franklin was initiated into St. John’s Lodge in Philadelphia; the earliest known Masonic Lodge in North America. On June 24 of that year, the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania was formed. By 1734, Franklin had risen to the position of Right Worshipful Grand Master of Masons in Pennsylvania and conducted Grand Lodge meetings at the Tun.
Robert D. Brink, board member of The Tun Legacy Foundation, is the Grand Master of Masons in Pennsylvania exactly 292 years later!

Created by Jim West, the bronze statue depicts George Washington showing a Masonic apron given to him to Benjamin Franklin, while Franklin suggests that Washington puts it on and attends a Masonic meeting.

The Brothers of 148 are very excited for very own Gabe Jagush serving as District Deputy Grand Master of District 64-A. He is one of the hardest working men in the quarries and we could not be happier he was honored with this appointment.

As we pick up our working tools again in the light of this new year, let us consider:
“The soul is dyed the color of its thoughts. Think only on those things that are in line with your principles and can bear the light of day. The content of your character is your choice. Day by day, what you do is who you become. Your integrity is your destiny—it is the light that guides your way.” ~ Heraclitus of Ephesus, pre-Socratic Greek Philosopher (cir. 535-475 BCE).
Like the great cathedrals of old, our lives are built stone by stone; shaped and carved with as much careful intention and patience as with faith and purpose. May the light we carry in our hearts be reflected in our work and in all that we choose to contribute to the world around us; a labor of love indeed.

Today we honor Saint John the Evangelist.
As Freemasons, we reflect on the light of truth and the power of the Word to shape our lives and our Lodge. Saint John stands as a symbol of spiritual insight, moral clarity, and the pursuit of wisdom, values that guide our Craft and our Brotherhood.
Happy Saint John’s Day to all!

"Still the ideal is before us, a glimmering light in a dark, distracted and dying world, and it rests with ourselves whether it remains a glimmer or whether we strive to fan it into a blaze of fact. For those who desire merely a social and sociable organization, garnished with a little picturesque ceremonial and providing opportunity for a little amusement and personal distinction, Masonry will never be more than the formality it long has been and still is for many, and they themselves will remain in darkness as to its meaning, its purpose, and its great possibilities.” ~ From The Masonic Initiation by Bro. W.L. Wilmshurst (1924)
