Teaching timeless traditions of beauty and technique in realist art.

Texas Academy of Figurative Art (TAFA) is an ARC Approved™ atelier that offers education and training that is anchored in the traditions of realistic art. Universities throughout the US have been simultaneously departing from a traditional realistic approach to art education, to the point that they no longer offer a legitimately grounded approach to either contemporary or classically-based figurat

ive art, or realism in general. In contrast, TAFA is part of a new realistic revival and the contemporary realist movement found in some smaller schools outside the traditional university system. TAFA is the only academy of its kind in Texas offering a focused curriculum in realism—believing that visual art education should be built on the fundamentals and foundation of good drawing skills. The Academy holds to the belief that a knowledge of realistic figurative art is the foundation from which to springboard into figurative compositions, still life, portraiture, landscape and even non-representational art.

Celebrate World Art Day with a gift to TAFA! 🌎🖌️🎨

World Art Day is celebrated each year on April 15th, the birthday of Leonardo da Vinci, to honor creativity, cultural diversity, and to encourage artistic education. It is an opportunity to support the organizations and programs that make this work possible.

At TAFA, our curriculum is rooted in the tradition of realist figurative art, with an emphasis on drawing and painting from direct observation, strong draftsmanship, in a disciplined, atelier based environment.

Your gift helps ensure this tradition of fine art education continues in Texas. 🔗Link in bio to donate.
