Due medical reasons, I have decided to retire early as of February 23, 2024, 6 pm was my last day this was the day that my symptoms came to existence.
I have been diagnosed with Acute Transverse Myelitis which includes weakness and numbness of the limbs, deficits in sensation and motor skills, dysfunctional the autonomic nervous system that can lead to episodes of Hypotension. Sensory symptoms of TM may include a sensation of pins and needles traveling up from the feet.[1] . Motor weakness occurs due to the involvement of the pyramidal tracts and mainly affects the muscles that flex the legs and extend the arms.[1]
Disturbances in sensory nerves and motor nerves and dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system at the level of the lesion or below, are noted. Therefore, the signs and symptoms depend on the area of the spine involved.[5] Back pain can occur at the level of any inflamed segment of the spinal cord.[1]
At this time I am learning to walk all over again with the help of Therapists, {OT, PT}
3 hours a day 5 days a week, to regain my motor skills in my legs and feet.
I have cared for children varies ages on and off for 30 years, it was a main part of my life and my heart. I will love and miss all of my Angels and the wonderful parents that allowed me to care and assist in the learning of the most precious gifts from God.
Thank you so much for your trust and patience.
Sincerely,
Debra Scott Fletcher
