2026-2027 FWISD Personal Communication Device Policy (HB 1481)

To support a distraction-free learning environment, the Leadership Academy at Forest Oak will implement the requirements of Texas House Bill 1481 (HB 1481) regarding student personal electronic devices, in accordance with Fort Worth ISD policy.

All personal electronic devices of any kind (cell phones, tablets, AirPods, smart glasses, smart watches, headphones, etc.) must be powered off, stored away, and out of sight for the entire instructional day.

• If a device is seen, heard, or used, it will be confiscated and disciplinary consequences will be applied in accordance with state law, the FWISD Student Code of Conduct, and District Policy.

• This expectation applies for the entire instructional day.

• Medical exceptions require district-approved documentation. Exceptions will also be made, if necessary, to implement student IEP and 504 plans.
