Please help us welcome Mr. Bill Mitchell to the Badger family! 🎉 Mr. Mitchell will be joining our team as a School Counselor.
“Hi everybody, I’m Bill Mitchell, and I’m excited to be joining Ed Willkie as a school counselor. I’ve worked in education for 15 years, 10 of which I’ve worked as a middle school counselor.
One of my favorite parts of being a counselor is getting to know students and being a supportive presence during both the challenging and successful moments of their school experience. I enjoy helping students work through difficult situations, solve problems, recognize their strengths, and find success both inside and outside the classroom. I also enjoy working closely with teachers and staff because supporting students is truly a team effort.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, photography, and watching documentaries. I’m also a self-proclaimed 80s music aficionado.
I’m looking forward to meeting everyone and becoming part of the Badger family.”

“Hello! My name is Rebecca Smith, and I am so excited to begin this new chapter teaching 6th grade English at Willkie. I come from a supportive family and have been blessed with people in my life who encourage me to keep growing both personally and professionally. I have my Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from UNT, studied 4–8 ELAR at the University of North Texas, and over the past 15 years have taught secondary English in a variety of roles.
In my free time, I enjoy working out, traveling with my husband, cooking and enjoying delicious food, and spending time with my family. Teaching has taught me the value of patience, the power of believing in our ability to grow, and the importance of being a kind adult who believes all kids can learn. I believe kids are the future, and I keep that at the forefront of my mind every day. I am grateful for the opportunity to join the Willkie team and look forward to making a positive impact.”
We are excited to have Mrs. Smith join our team and can’t wait to see the impact she will make on our students and school community. Welcome to Willkie, Mrs. Smith! 🦡❤️🖤
