We have lost one of our own Cookie Lamb Clardy passed this weekend due to injuries from a car wreck.
I was on the Eastside today and of course had lunch at the Mexican Inn. While we were there I told my family about going there for a field trip and Miss Ashburn making sure we behaved. Then I told them the story of the stop light in cafeteria. Years later when I was teaching at Sagamore I found that light in a storeroom and gave serious thought to stealing it, it and the paddle I found with it. However, it may be best I didn't execute that particular theft. Tonight my husband was talking to a friend whose grand daughter is in kindergarten there. He , friend John, took her lunch today and was surprised to see a great big stop light installed in the cafeteria. I'm sure it was the same light, I wonder if the paddle is still there.

This was Jack Smith, sixth grade teacher at Sagamore while I attended. When I taught there In the mid seventies he was my principal.
I know they have changed the basic layout some but the news announced that the window to the nurses office had been broken out. I know EXACTLY where it is , first door to the right as you walk in the front door. The dis[lay case is directly in front and the Principal's office is to the direct left. I am sure Miss Ashburn's spirit is furious over this . She would be calling poor Tom James to the office to ask him if he had seen anything or knew who had desecrated her school
I am so happy Linda Gunn has joined FB. I hope you enjoy this sight too.
