What’s better than promoting reading and kindness? If you answered promoting reading, kindness, and a laser light show, you guessed correctly! ⚡📚🚨 Students at Lena M. Preston Elementary were treated to a "light show spectacular" on Wednesday morning, thanks to the Preston PTA and San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Ted Alejandre. The Preston Panthers cheered with glee as Seiyah from Prismatic Magic shared a story of kindness and empathy through mesmerizing lights. During the show, Mr. Alejandre shared an inspiring message on the lifelong importance of being a strong reader. Kindness and reading go hand in hand! Principal Ms. Erica Bennett also showcased the "Acts of Kindness" bulletin board inside the school MPR, which featured heartfelt advice from students, staff, and RUSD Superintendent Dr. Alejandro Alvarez. Mr. Alejandre even added his own words of wisdom during the assembly! Keep up the great work, Panthers! 🐾📖

Today we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. At the March on Washington in 1963, Dr. King emphatically called, "Let freedom ring!" to the hundreds of thousands in attendance.

Throughout Black History Month this February, we will celebrate with schools and students across the country as we pay tribute to the heroes who paved the way for those words to be heard and those who carry on that message to this day.
