James M. Steele Early College High School senior Valerie Abai and VR Eaton High School seniors Shlok Brahmbhatt and Sophia Bacon were surprised yesterday with news that they were selected to return as ambassadors for the AllianceTexas Student Influencers program. Each will receive a $5,000 scholarship and nine months of continued hands-on experience exploring the region’s businesses, industries and career pathways while helping mentor this year’s student influencers.

Seventy students from Byron Nelson High School, VR Eaton High School and Northwest High School have been selected as this year’s Advanced Academics Ambassadors. The students met Wednesday to connect, learn about advanced academics and even prepared an elevator speech to share opportunities with their peers. Throughout the year, they will promote advanced academic programs, share their experiences and help classmates navigate their options.

Congratulations to Northwest ISD's Steve Sprowls for being selected as one of just 26 school board members from across Texas to join the Leadership TASB Class of 2027 cohort! This statewide program focuses on strengthening governance and improving student outcomes. Mr. Sprowls has served on the Northwest ISD Board of Trustees since 2017, including previously serving as board president.

The ninth annual Northwest ISD Band Showcase, sponsored by Bell’s Music Shop, will be Monday, September 28, at NISD Stadium, with gates opening at 6 p.m. and performances beginning at 7 p.m.

The James M. Steele Early College High School junior placed eighth in the world in the Microsoft PowerPoint (Microsoft 365 Apps) live competitive event. Tammy Hicks, wife of former Northwest ISD Superintendent Dr. David Hicks, and family friends recently visited the new Dr. David Hicks Early Childhood Center for the first time. Dr. Hicks served as Northwest ISD superintendent in 2022 and unexpectedly passed away, leaving a lasting legacy at the district — and now, the new campus that bears his name.

Whether they’re going on a camping trip or starting a mission to space, the Huskies are having a blast at their new school while learning through play! Take a sneak peek at the new campus. This is the first of four early childhood centers in Northwest ISD approved by voters in the 2023 bond election.
