Open hands to greet
Open heart to feel
Open eyes to observe
Open ears to listen
Open mind to discern
Open mouth to counsel

When I think about who our leaders will be in the next generation, it largely depends on whether we as today's leaders are providing models and mentoring the kids who need us to help them get a good running start. As I read some of the statistics on The Annie E. Casey Foundation (Foundation) website, it occurred to me that it's easy to see the glass half empty. It's much better to see the potential and the opportunities that we have to develop leaders out of the kids who live in the margins and bring them to the mainstream. Please take a look at the information that the Foundation has compiled and think about those numbers representing people who have value but may not feel valued.
Ensuring the Future of At-Risk Youth The Annie E. Casey Foundation is developing a brighter future for children and youth at risk of poor educational, economic, social and health outcomes.
The Fruit of Faithful Faith
Luke 16:10
10 “One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.
Note: Faithfulness in little gains momentum over time and the little becomes more. The faithfulness does not change as the little becomes larger but the fruit of faithfulness multiplies. So don’t despise small beginnings but be faithful no matter how small or insignificant the start may be.
We’ve often heard it said that children are our future. The question is what kind of future. The answer to that question largely depends on the quality of investments we make in them in terms of time, teaching and modeling what we teach. Just a friendly reminder since we recently celebrated National Children’s Day.
You’ve heard the words, ‘paralysis analysis.’ You’ve also heard the words, ‘haste makes waste.’ Both postures are at the extreme ends of the spectrum of decision making. Somewhere between the two is your sweet spot and you will find it as you make decisions, fail, and learn your unique pace. You will either have to slow down or speed up but keep moving forward.

In the same way that excess analysis causes paralysis of action, moving too fast without sufficient knowledge or information will sabotage your goals. After a reasonable amount of research and reflection, take deliberate, intentional action. You'll be glad you did.
