It’s so easy and natural to want to escape discomfort but it’s one of the worst things we can do for our mental health! To become comfortable with the discomfort of difficult feelings it’s necessary to practice “dosing”- each time you feel a hard emotion try for just 30-90 seconds to embrace it, sit with it, question it, and write it down. Overtime you will become good at sitting in the discomfort, learning from it, and learning to choose how to respond in a way that grows healthy brain networks not toxic ones! Don’t feel ashamed or scared or angry with yourself- this is extremely hard but so beneficial! Thank you for this great illustration!
