No seriously, as a sunless artist, you need to be advising your clients not to get a spray tan if their skin has been burned within 6 weeks of their appointment. (Yes - even if it looks healed).

DHA, the active ingredient in tanning solutions, needs healthy skin in order to work properly. DHA reacts with the amino acids in the skins outermost layer (the epidermis) creating melanoidins, which cause a brownish-yellow pigmentation.

If that outermost layer has been damaged from the sun and/or tanning bed UV rays, they can risk their tan looking like the photo above.

If your client is insistent on continuing to still spray after you have shared all of the information with them, make sure you are having them sign a liability release waiver, releasing your business from being responsible.
