Every time you leave the classroom, have them clean!!! 🧼

Before recess, specials, lunch, and dismissal, make them clean their area. 🫧

Before they can come to my line, their desk must be clear:
1. On top
2. Underneath
3. Behind
4. In front

If they come to my line and their desk isn’t clean, they lose their spot in line and they must go clean it. 🧹

I also keep a sweeper for them to sweep tiny crumbs and I have two trash cans, one on each side of the classroom. 🧽

This is so helpful so your clean up team isn’t stuck with all the trash cleanup throughout the day. They are not maids and neither are YOU! ✨

Comment ways you keep your classroom clean! 🧺🧻

Save this post for August!! Your future self will thank you 👩🏻‍🏫

Remember, the key to a successful first day of school is specific and explicitly taught procedures, routines, and high expectations!!

I have a list of procedures in my new classroom management guide on my TPT. Comment, “guide” and I’ll send you the link! 🥳

The first day of school can feel completely overwhelming and honestly super daunting!! 😅

I remember someone saying, “Our main goal is to keep them safe, feed them, and get them all home!” 🤣
While I understand the sentiment, that’s like the lowest possible goal.

From day 1, you need to build high expectations, solid routines, & procedures. If you’re not doing this on day 1, you will struggle to fix it. This is coming from someone who had a HUGE transformation from year 1 to year 2. 🤗

When I finished year one, I had a specific strategy of how to create procedures and routines for my classroom! Now, I’m turning this strategy into a resource that I would love to share with you!! It’s still in the works, but by July 11th, It’ll be ready for you!! 🥳

My teacher besties get early access to these new resources when they sign-up!! So if you’d like to sign-up for this new resource, comment, “system” and I’ll send you a link to sign-up!! ✨

Them: “but that’s not fair, and why”

Me: *starts counting out loud* “1, 2, 3, 4…”

Them: “Why are you counting? You’re not even listening…”

Me: “5, 6, 7, 8”

Them: *finally stops talking*

Me: “This is how many sentences I want you to write on your think sheet.”

Arguing, students not listening, having zero manners, throwing items, not following directions right away were completely normal. 🥺

I didn’t realize that dealing with these behaviors all day long was sucking the life out of me. By the time I got home, I had nothing left for my family. 😔

I realized this was not sustainable long term and I was quickly losing my joy for teaching and love for my students. 💔

I came up with new systems, procedures, routines, organization, and giving quicker consequences because I knew if I didn’t, myself, my family, and my students would continue to suffer. ✨

Stick around for more of my transformation story from year 1 to year 2. 🫶🏻

Make them clean before they leave!! ✨

1. Go to specials, their area must be clean.
2. Go to recess, their area must be clean.
3. Go to lunch, their area must be clean.
4. Go to an assembly, their area must be clean.

Crumbs, broken crayons, pencils, tissues, erasers, tiny pieces of trash, etc.
