I make them do it again, again, again, and again. As many times as it takes and I am not giving consequences this early because they are learning EVERYTHING for the first time. ✨

This is not the time for firm correction, this is the time for patient redirection. Students are nervous, curious, and extra wiggly and the last thing they need to hear is, “I told you, we’re doing this!!” ❌

Give them time to adjust and once they’ve learned the routines, this is when you give the consequences. But until then, make them practice over and over and over. 🍎

Save this post for the beginning of the year to remind yourself to have patience with your students!! 😌

Breakfast:

I know it’s not the best combo, but oh well 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pink drink:
Strawberry collagen and 450 ml of water (truly the BEST!) 🌸

Lunch:
Kettle Fire chips
Sam’s turkey deli meat 🥪
Not sure what the brand is on this bread, but it’s from Aldi ✨
Walmart cucumbers and they’re HUGE!!

Snack:
A Larabar cinnamon bar is a sweet snack, without the bad ingredients 🫶🏻

Dinner:
Crockpot Chicken pasta, let me know if you want the recipe and I’ll send it! It’s super easy, but you do need to add more seasoning!!

I tell them, “I’m not your friend, I’m your teacher. I love that you enjoy being with me and I love being with you too, but I am different than a friend.”❤️

This isn’t mean or harsh, you must be direct with kids, otherwise they won’t take you seriously. Also, make sure you’re looking them in the eyes so they know you mean business. Kids will actually love and respect you more because you set boundaries with them. ✨

Y’all, I literally had a student one time call me, “bruh” and ran away. 😂 I quickly called them back over and told them, that as your teacher, you respect and treat me differently. You can only call me Mrs. and we had no other issues after that!

Step 1: set a 1 minute timer and say, “you have one minute to get ready for grammar and writing, sitting down with your hands folded and flat feet. Starting now.”

Step 2: *students move quickly to clear their desk, put a yellow pencil at the top of their desk, and their journal in the corner of their desk*

Step 3: Timer goes off and you look around and every student is ready except that one student who isn’t paying attention and late.

Step 4: give that student a consequence because they were not on time. Next time, they won’t be late.

Step 5: Let the other students know they did a fantastic job beating the timer!

You practice, give clear expectations, and be ready to follow through with consequences! ❤️

Time 1:
Teacher: “Class, class?”
Students: “Yes, yes?”
*you have 5 kids still talking*
Teacher: Oh, let’s try that again.”

Do this on REPEAT until you have ALL students attention, this is when you say,
Teacher: “I want your attention the first time, not the second or the third time.” 🍎

Then you could say either,
1. “If you’re choosing to talk, instead of following directions, then you’re choosing a consequence.”
2. *If all students follow directions the first time* “Wow, I love it when you all follow directions the first time! Thank you so much.” ☺️

Be ready to implement consequences if students continue to talk!! You can also give a reward, if your class has worked really hard on this specific procedure and they finally get it. 🥳

Jk jk children are a joy and my husband and I love them!! I think I relate more to a child because I am one 🤪
