Fish Camp at Benbrook Stables

🎣 That’s a WRAP on our final Fish Camp of the summer! 🏕️🐟

Fishing was on 🔥 and campers were reeling in the fun! They put all their skills to the test in our Casting Competition on the last day—what a way to end it! 🎯✨

Campers even got to build their very own fishing poles and use them to fish in the creek 🎣, then took their skills to the pier at Benbrook Lake for some big-time fishing fun! We had so much excitement both days—it was nonstop action!

From building tents and learning to tie knots, to using a compass to navigate the creek (and understanding what lateral drift means 🌊🧭), these campers became true outdoor explorers. We even built real campfires together! 🔥🌲

A huge shoutout to the Benbrook Fire Department for stopping by to teach fire safety, give a tour of their truck, and let campers try out a real fire hose! 🚒👨‍🚒💦

🎣🔥 July 21 & 22 was a total blast at Fish Camp! Our campers had so much fun diving into the world of fishing and nature skills. They learned how to cast like pros, explored the parts of a fishing pole, and discovered what goes inside a tackle box. 🧰 They even built their very own fishing poles and took them down to the creek to try them out! 🐟 Campers got to identify freshwater fish, learn about their ideal bait, and head out to the pier at Benbrook Lake to fish and see how wind can affect fishing. 🌬️ Along the way, they learned how a compass works 🧭, what lateral drift is, and how important navigation tools are in the wild. We also explored the ecosystem and how our lake systems work 🌿🌊, and wrapped it all up by searching for natural materials and learning how to safely build a fire. 🔥 We love watching these amazing campers learn valuable life skills while having a blast outdoors! 💚👏

🎣 Our first Fish Camp of the summer is in the books — and what a blast it was! We had so much fun, we wished it would never end!

Our campers were natural anglers, learning all about freshwater fish (especially those right here in Benbrook Lake 🐟). They practiced casting, tying knots, building a campfire, setting up a tent, and discovering everything inside a tackle box. Plus, they even learned how to navigate the great outdoors with a compass! 🧭🔥

Our amazing campers made the most of these chilly fall days, learning all about fishing and outdoor survival! 🧥🍂 From casting lines to discovering what’s inside a tackle box 🎣🧰, their curiosity and enthusiasm were unmatched!

They also learned how to:
🎣 Make their own fishing poles and try them out like pros! 🛠️
🔥 Build a campfire and roast marshmallows 🍫✨
🧭 Use a compass while hiking 🌲👟
🎪 Set up a tent and find the perfect spot to pitch it (and why those spots are ideal!) 🌌🏕️
🐟 Choose the best bait for different types of fish 🎣🦐

To top it all off, campers got to ride a tractor 🚜 out to the Benbrook Lake fishing pier for some hands-on practice, making memories that will last a lifetime! 🌊💙

We made a splash this summer with our unforgettable Fish Camp! 🌊🐟 Our campers turned into pros at fishing, catching a handful of fish these last two days! We’re always thrilled to capture the excitement of campers catching their first fish. We dove into all things fish and the great outdoors, learning how to cast, what's in a tackle box, using a compass on a hike, building a campfire, and roasting marshmallows. They also discovered different types of bait and the best bait for various fish. Campers learned how to build a tent and find the best spots for pitching it, and why those spots are ideal. They even rode a tractor to and from Benbrook Lake's fishing pier, and so much more!

Huge thanks to the Benbrook Fire Department for joining us and sharing invaluable fire safety tips, exploring all the cool tools on the fire truck, and igniting our campers' curiosity! 🚒🔥

Our campers had an amazing time at Fish Camp, diving into a fun-filled two days of outdoor adventure and learning!

🌟 Highlights:
- Lure & Bait Basics: Campers learned about different lures and bait, and how to tie the essential knots for fishing success.

- Tent Building: Hands-on experience in building tents, ensuring they can set up their own cozy campsites.

- Casting Techniques: Various ways to cast a fishing pole were taught, improving their skills with every throw.

- Hiking & Navigation: Campers went on exciting hikes, using compasses to navigate from point A to point B, building their confidence in the great outdoors.

- Safety First: A special visit from the Benbrook Fire Department gave everyone crucial safety tips and a memorable experience.

- Fishing at Benbrook Lake: The highlight was, of course, fishing at the beautiful Benbrook Lake! Campers put their new knowledge to the test, trying different bait for different fish and practicing patience and safety around fellow anglers.

It was a fantastic two days packed with learning, adventure, and plenty of fun. Our campers left with new skills, great memories, and a deeper love for fishing and the outdoors. Can't wait for the next Fish Camp! 🏕️🐠
