"I wish I hadn't learned to play the piano" Said no one. EVER. :)
When I see the head nod that gives honor to the ‘unplayed’ beat, it shows the internalization of the heartbeat and it makes this teacher soooo happy!! Beautiful music is not just playing/singing the right notes, there is so much more that goes into it and rhythm is a biggie 😊
This moment put a HUGE smile on my face 😁
My student, an adult, has been taking lessons for a year. She has learned to read music quite well and we have worked through some songs. But this song I did not teach her. She liked the song, found the chord chart on her own and knew how to read it and play it. She has a blast playing the track and she and her husband on his guitar play together. And THIS is the joy of music we are after. 🥰

Sometime a child will take lessons for a few months and then for whatever reason stop. The parent might feel cheated for the money spent and that they did not get very far. BUT fast forward to when they become a teenager and decide to pick up the instrument again…and bam! They can learn this piece and read it fairly well in just a few lessons! How you might wonder? Anything a child spends time on, as Insignificant as it might seem at the time, it is worth it. Take the plunge 🙂
