It's move-out day here at the SOM, as we begin vacating Ed Landreth Hall, our original building and one that still houses over 60 faculty and staff. Our friends at University Christian Church of Fort Worth, across the street, and where TCU Music Prep will be housed during the renovation, are giving us such a warm welcome.

We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Corey Trahan has been appointed Associate Director of the TCU School of Music!

A dynamic performer, educator, and stage director, Dr. Trahan brings exceptional artistry, leadership, and vision to this role. His impact on our students, productions, and community has already been profound, and we look forward to all that lies ahead under his continued leadership.

The TCU School of Music is excited to announce that Dr. Jiyoun Chung and Dr. Ryan Lindveit will join our faculty this Fall as our newest Assistant Professors of Music Theory and Composition. Both are exceptional musicians whose work is nationally and internationally recognized, and we are thrilled to welcome them to the TCU family. Welcome to TCU, Dr. Chung and Dr. Lindveit!

The School of Music's Trumpet Ensemble, directed by Dr. Jon Burgess, excelled in the semi-final round of the National Trumpet Competition at the University of Iowa today. Heartfelt congratulations to these extraordinary student artists!

BRAVO‼️ Congratulations to the TCU Symphony Orchestra for an incredible concert last night featuring the Ballet Frontier of Texas and there performance of Stravinsky’s Firebird!

Thank you to James Giles for coming to work with students here at TCU! We were inspired by your wisdom and excellence! 🎶🎹

James Giles regularly performs in important musical centers in America, Europe, and Asia as a recitalist and chamber musician. He is coordinator of the piano program and director of music performance graduate studies at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music, where his class of students has featured many prize-winning young artists.

Please join us in congratulating these performers for their exceptional work, and in thanking all the students who participated in this year’s preliminary round. We are also grateful to our adjudicators “Twyla Robinson, Jeffrey Hodge, and Diego Torres” for their time, expertise, and thoughtful evaluation of the performances.

We look forward to celebrating our finalists at the recital on April 15, 2026, at 3:00 PM in Van Cliburn Concert Hall at TCU.
