Excellent tips outlined here to (1) stay connected, (2) help them make a plan and problem-solve, and (3) keep communication open. Social and emotional learning (SEL) is an important aspect of music lessons as well.

Thank you to all the parents, caregivers and teachers who are helping kids feel connected, loved, supported and empowered this school year!

SEL “helps children and adults develop the skills we need for every area of life, from academics and careers to healthy relationships and overall well-being—skills like managing our emotions, communicating effectively, setting and achieving goals, and making good choices.”

June Piano Pizza Party 2023!

Our Piano Pizza Party today was so much fun! We had a virtual party (students received a pizza delivery after performances!) AND an in-person party with performances, pizza and music/pizza-themed games:

Two teams played a version of tic-tac-toe that was actually pretty challenging- & the winning team each round got to play an improv ensemble piece! Musical chairs was fun, too!

Rhythm, tempo and time signatures were discussed and we had a few activities reinforcing those topics, as well. We also took time to recognize some special student accomplishments.

Great job, everyone! Thanks for playing today! And thanks to the parents, siblings and family members who support them. Have a great summer! 🎶

Happy World Piano Day. 🎹🎶❤️

Piano Day is held on the 88th day of the year (March 29th in normal years and March 28th in leap years) in celebration of and reference to the 88 keys on a standard piano.

From German pianist and composer Nils Frahm: "because it doesn’t hurt to celebrate the piano and everything around it: performers, composers, piano builders, tuners, movers and most important, the listener.”
