At Specialty Tutoring, students work one-on-one with a real instructor in a real space—building confidence, skills, and meaningful connections.

This year, we’re honoring an incredible milestone—20 years of dedication, patience, and life-changing learning with one of our amazing tutors at Specialty Tutoring.

What started as a desire to better support her own child’s learning journey turned into two decades of helping students grow, gain confidence, and believe in themselves.

📚 Her favorite part of the job? The kids—of course!
🌟 A favorite success story? A student who began reading at a 1st-grade level and, just one year later, was reading near a 6th-grade level.
🎲 Her secret to making learning fun? Targeted learning games
🐱 Fun fact: She has 7 cats!

Training for our Learning Specialist position begins in February!

Work 1:1 with K–8 students using proven programs in reading, math, comprehension, and writing—all while strengthening their cognitive skills & confidence.

This part-time professional role is ideal if you:
✅ Love helping kids & are seeking flexible, long-term, year-round work.
✅ Can commit to 2 to 4 after-school/evening shifts per week (10–20 hrs).
✅ Have prior instructional experience with school-age children (4-yr degree preferred).

This week in the Learning Center, we overheard two students who reminded us just how powerful that experience can be:

4th grader: “I used to HATE reading, but now it’s fun!”
11th grader: “I never used to read before coming here, but now I can’t put some books down!”

Moments like these remind us why we do what we do — because once reading becomes a joy instead of a struggle, a whole new world opens up. 💛

Fort Wayne Boys and Girls Club: From vision to legacy What started as a casual lunch conversation in Lafayette nearly four decades ago has grown into one of the largest Boys and Girls Clubs in America, serving Fort Wayne’s youth and making history along the way.
