Kids notice the surprises we adults miss- a beetle crossing the trail, a sparkle in the mud, the first bud on a winter branch.
These tiny moments spark curiosity, joy, and connection. And at Wild Roots, we build space for all of it.
Because noticing the world is the start of understanding it.

This Saturday, December 6 from 8am-12pm, We are hosting our first Winter Half-Day Camp!!
Our Wild Roots Winter Half-Day Camp includes:

❄️and much, much, more!
Our Half-Day Camp is open to children ages 3-13. We also accept adult volunteers to join us and all volunteers receive a discount code for a free registration!

Children who spend meaningful time outdoors-running, climbing, exploring, grounding, observing- tend to fall asleep faster, sleep deeper, and wake up more rested. Nature gives their bodies the movement they crave and the calm their minds need.
At our half-day camps, children spend 4 hours immersed in nature:

•climbing
•observing
•connecting
•moving
This kind of unstructured-but-supported nature time is a gift to their nervous systems. After a day of discovery and fresh air, bedtime becomes so much easier.

At Wild Roots, this season is not about a holiday- it is about honoring the original stewards of this land. We recognize and respect the Miami, Potawatomi, and Delaware peoples, whose deep relationship with this land continues today.
As a Montessori-inspired, nature-centered organization, we commit to learning from Indigenous ways of knowing, supporting Indigenous-led initiatives, and teaching children the value of reciprocity, stewardship, and community care.
We invite you to join us this season in uplifting Indigenous voices, exploring Indigenous authors, and educators, and practicing gratitude that is rooted in justice, relationship, and respect.

• Robin Wall Kimmerer (Citizen Potawatomi Nation) -botanist, author, and beloved educator on reciprocity, ecology, and Indigenous knowledge.
•Dr. Michael YellowBird (Mandan, Hidasta, and Arikara Nation) -scholar of neuro decolonization, mindfulness, and Indigenous health and healing practices.
•The Mayans Center (Miami Tribe of Oklahoma + Miami University Partnership)

Wild Roots honors the ancestral lands of the Miami (Mayans), Potowatomi (Bodéwadmi), and Delaware (Lenape) peoples. We recognize their ongoing presence, sovereignty, and cultural contributions in what is now called Fort Wayne. We are committed to deepening our learning, building reciprocal relationships, and uplifting Indigenous-led efforts in our region.
