Weary of fighting brain fog? In this article, Dr. Caroline Leaf shares some strategies that can help clear your mind.
The risk of pessimism is no less than the risk of optimism, and perhaps even greater. Pessimism leads to paralysis and inaction. Optimism…leads to effort and engagement. True, it may not always yield the hoped for results, but without effort, there is no chance at all.
-Rabbi Dr Refael Feuerstein
“He (Professor Feuerstein) saw that the first recipient of faith in modifiability had to be the parents. Those exhausted, skeptical mothers and fathers who stopped believing in their children and fell into a kind of paralysis. He understood that the key to change lies with them. On the one side they are surrounded by professionals urging them to accept the child “as he is.” On the other side, deep inside, they sense that their child can achieve far more.
Already then, Father knew: the more a teacher or parent believes a child can change—and believes in his or her own power to help bring that change about—the more likely the transformation will happen.”

In this short video clip, Temple Grandin shares her thoughts on how being labeled as austistic in this day and age might get in the way of an individual’s development.
Professor Feuerstein once spoke on the same idea in a lecture entitled “Early Diagnosis- a Blessing or a Curse?”
At MINDCAP, a diagnosis doesn’t cause our team to expect less of an individual. We view diagnosis as an explanation for why certain skills might be challenging to a learner but not as an excuse that exempts the person from working on developing the strategies needed to aptly problem-solve situations in life.
