Hello all! I am so glad you are here!
My name is Michelle Glim and I LOVE all things oboe. I love playing, making reeds (crazy, right?), studying music, and, most importantly here, teaching oboe!
I am an experienced oboist who has been playing since 2014 with a freelance career beginning around 2016/17. I worked for/received a Bachelor of Arts in music (oboe performance) and English (literature) in 2019 from William Jessup University in Rocklin, CA.
I have played in numerous bands, orchestras, chamber music groups, pit orchestras, as well as several solo performances. Throughout my time playing oboe, I have studied under Curtis Kidwell and Ari Cohen Mann.
Why teach? I did not have a private oboe teacher my first year playing oboe, and I really struggled! When I began my studies under Curtis Kidwell and began growing, I knew I wanted to eventually do the same for other oboists. Between a busy college schedule, and 4 moves across the United States in 4 years, I unfortunately was not able to build my own oboe studio. That time has now come!
At MG Oboe Studio, my goal is your Musical Growth. I currently teach in-person/Zoom lessons to beginning and intermediate oboists who are determined to grow in their oboe and music journey.
