The Bachelor of General Studies is NEW and IMPROVED this fall semester! The new degree structure allows students to dive deeper into two specialized areas of study of their choice to create a balanced, yet dynamic degree program that exemplifies their strengths.

BACHELOR OF GENERAL STUDIES

GEN ED CORE (30 credits)

SPECIALIZED LEARNING AREA I:
18 credits
3 courses must be upper level

SPECIALIZED LEARNING AREA II:
18 credits
3 courses must be upper level

Computer Competency course.
(3 credits)
IDIS 41700 (3 credits)

Complete additional elective courses to reach 120 total credits, including:
32 credits of university residency courses (200+) at PFW
30 credits of upper level courses (300+) at PFW
*Can overlap with university residency and concentration

Purdue Fort Wayne’s Bachelor of Applied Science gives students with an Associate of Applied Science the opportunity to build on their existing education with specialized, career-focused study.

With 9 concentrations to choose from (including our newest concentration, Cyber Security!) students can customize their degree to develop skills that align with their goals.

Donyell Smith plans to join law enforcement after graduation. He shares that his degree gave him the opportunity to study a variety of subjects, helping him develop a broad perspective. One of his favorite memories at Purdue Fort Wayne was participating in mock trials for his business law course with Professor Bougher, an experience that combined hands-on learning with real-world application.

Kailani Johnson plans to pursue her Master’s in Library Science with the goal of becoming a children’s librarian. She shares that her degree prepared her to navigate a wide variety of fields and to find meaningful intersections that deepen understanding. Kailani fondly reflects on all of her experiences at Purdue Fort Wayne and the growth she achieved in every course. Her motivation comes from a deep love of learning and a desire to continually push her own boundaries while broadening her knowledge.
