✨Thank You Indiana Archives and Records Administration for the shout-out! ✨We look forward to seeing you downtown! From the Spring 2026 Indiana State Archives Quarterly:
Thank You, Genealogists!
In April, IARA Director Chandler Lighty and historian Jill Weiss Simins spoke with attendees at the Indiana Genealogical Society Annual Conference at the Plainfield-Guildford Township Public Library. Our team spoke about the new Archives building, how to use IARA collections for genealogy research, and how researchers are hoping the new facility will serve them.
Didn't get a chance to weigh in? Take our survey on how we can better serve you. And we look forward to seeing you in the new building this fall! https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=ur-ZIQmkE0-wxBi0WTPYjcpbvwNfcoVCq3Cy5FHRinNUMUxHTzY2NE1aWlFFTzJLV1VYODkyRkVHQi4u

Looking for Allen County ancestors or old family land?
The Allen County Genealogical Society of Indiana website has a valuable collection of historic plat maps for years such as 1860, 1880, 1930, 1940, and more. Each plat map page lists townships with links to PDF maps, so you can view land ownership by township.
Even better, each page includes an alphabetical landowner index on the right side. Looking for a surname like Smith? Click “S” and search the list.
Explore the plat maps at acgsi.org — a useful resource for anyone researching Allen County, Indiana families, farms, and neighborhoods.
Navigation: From the main page -> Records -> Maps -> londok for Platt Maps.
