What a special way to celebrate World News Day! A huge thank you to Alyssa Ivanson WANE 15 for spending time with our students and helping us launch our very own GFW News Club! Our young reporters loved learning from a real-life journalist and were so excited to ask questions and explore the world of news.

✨ What a wonderful start to another great school year! 📚🍎

Our first day of school was Tuesday, and we couldn’t have asked for a more special welcome back! A huge thank you to our Director, Chelsi, for creating such a beautiful Back-to-School setup; our amazing PAC parents for planning fun activities for our children; and Hailee and Julie for putting together the sweetest teacher bags and a fun lanyard-making activity for our team. 💛

It truly takes a village, and we’re so grateful for ours. Here’s to a year filled with learning, laughter, kindness, and wonderful memories! 🌟

🐾 Learning to Be Safe, Kind & Compassionate Around Animals! 🐶🐱💛

We were so excited to welcome Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control to The Goddard School of Fort Wayne for a special lesson on pet safety and responsible pet care!

Our little learners discovered how to safely approach and interact with pets, how to recognize when an animal may need some space, and ways we can help keep both ourselves and our furry friends safe. 🐾

But this lesson was about more than pet safety. Through their Humane Education Program, Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control helps children develop empathy, kindness, and compassion by learning to understand and respect animals—and those are lessons that reach far beyond our four-legged friends. 💛

A huge thank you to the Humane Education team at Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control for spending time with our students and making this such a fun and meaningful learning experience!

At Goddard, we love bringing learning to life through experiences that help our children become not only curious learners, but kind and compassionate members of their community. 🌎💛

Kindergarten readiness can show up in everyday moments, not just big milestones. A few signals to notice:

1. They’re building confidence to try things independently. Examples: walking into a room first, asking for help, or giving something new a try.

2. They’re starting to recognize the letters in their name, even if they’re not reading just yet.

3. They’re showing care and responsibility at home. This could include things like helping pack a bag, feeding a pet, putting away toys, or getting through part of their routine with a little more ease.

Every child grows at their own pace - and readiness looks different for every family. Their preschool teachers can be a great partner in noticing strengths, celebrating progress, and helping you think through what comes next.
