It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of Lew Goodwin.

Coach Lew wasn’t just a coach. He was a remarkable husband, father, friend, and a father figure to hundreds of Knights.

He lived every day by giving back, believing in young men, and leading with both toughness and love. If you had the opportunity to know Coach, you loved his sense of humor, his laugh, and the way he made everyone around him feel like family.

Coach was a winner. He was a champion. He dedicated four decades of his life to Bishop Luers Football, roaming the sidelines during 11 of our 12 state championship seasons. He expected excellence. No plays off, toughness, grit, and playing for your teammates, the former Knights who came before you, and Bishop Luers High School. Coach understood that Bishop Luers Football was bigger than any one person. It was always about family.

His impact on Bishop Luers Football will never be forgotten. His legacy will live on in every Knight who had the privilege of knowing him.

Our prayers are with his wife, Amy, his children, and his grandchildren. We are all going to miss him deeply.

In Loving Memory of Lew Goodwin

The Bishop Luers Alumni Association is saddened by the passing of Lew Goodwin, a proud Bishop Luers alumnus and a longtime coach who dedicated so many years to mentoring and inspiring generations of Knights.

Whether on the field, in the classroom, or throughout the Luers community, Coach Goodwin made a lasting impact through his leadership, kindness, and commitment to Bishop Luers. His legacy lives on in the countless students, athletes, and alumni whose lives he touched.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Goodwin family and all who knew and loved Lew. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.

Happy Father's Day to Our Spiritual Fathers

This Father's Day, we honor the Bishop Luers alumni who answered God's call to the priesthood and have embraced the vocation of spiritual fatherhood.

Through their ministry, they proclaim the Gospel, celebrate the sacraments, accompany others in times of joy and sorrow, and faithfully shepherd God's people. Their witness reminds us that fatherhood is lived not only within families, but also through a life dedicated to serving Christ and His Church.

Today, we are grateful for the many ways our alumni priests have impacted our school, parishes, and communities.

We remember in a special way Fr. Bill Sullivan '64, whose priesthood touched countless lives. May he rest in the peace of Christ, and may his legacy of faith and service continue to inspire future generations of Knights.
