I Choose To Win

I Choose To Win Women who are boldly, bravely and brilliantly unleashing their God-given gifts to impact the world. In life, we win. Welcome to 'I Choose To Win!"

Our mission is to strengthen the mental wellbeing, resilience and economic position of BIPOC women and girls in the Philly area. What if a generation of women were challenged to believe in God with renewed vigor and promise? What if this generation of women believed what God – and not society – said about them? What if they looked into the mirror and were reminded of God’s love and purpose? What i

f they peered into their souls only to find images of light, courage, boldness and salt? What if they recognized themselves as children of God perfectly designed and properly equipped to live the life God has purposed for them? What if we have a group of women who refuse to accept ‘what is’ as the end, instead they repurposed the lessons learned from trials and turned them into stepping-stones for their promising future? What if young women determine in their hearts that they choose to win in this life?

‘What if’ has become what is!

💜 THANK YOU! 💜

Last night, we gathered one more time—and what a beautiful way to honor 11 years of I Choose To Win.

To everyone who joined us virtually, shared a memory, reflected with us, laughed with us, celebrated with us, and helped us close this chapter with love—THANK YOU!

The legacy of I Choose To Win was never meant to live in an organization, a logo, or a program.

It was always meant to live in YOU.

In the woman who found her voice.
In the girl who dared to dream bigger.
In the leader who decided to step forward.
In the mentor who chose to pour back.
In the advocate who said, “There has to be more.”
And now, the next chapter is yours to live out.

Carry the vision. Use your voice. Make bold choices. Serve well. Create possibility.

And, in life… choose to win!

The Ones Who Believed Out Loud 📣

Every movement needs people willing to speak up, spread the word, open a door, make an introduction, and tell someone, “You need to know about this.”

As of 2025, our community advocates helped I Choose To Win reach 9,072 women and girls since 2015 -- Winners whom we may never have reached alone. We are so grateful for you all!

Who needs you to use your voice this week?

Your advocacy can be someone's introduction to possibility.

Sometimes, the most powerful impact is simply speaking life into someone and reminding them that their voice matters.

Jordan Harmon's reflection reminds us that I Choose To Win wasn't just a program, event, or organization—it was a space where people could see purpose in action and witness lives being touched.

From a summer camp conversation to a lasting connection to the mission, Jordan's story is a beautiful reminder that we may never fully know how far our words, presence, and example will travel.

As we continue celebrating 11 years of legacy, we want to hear from you.

💜 What did I Choose To Win mean to you? What moment, lesson, relationship, or experience will you carry with you?

Hope Grows When We Choose to Serve. 🌱💜

What began as a $10,000 prize pool for Empowered Uth: Cultiv8 Hope grew into $12,000 in awards for Philadelphia-area youth ages 13–18 who used storytelling to explore one powerful question:

What does HOPE mean to you?

Through spoken word, music, visual art, and multimedia storytelling, young people shared their voices, visions, and lived experiences—and a community of volunteers, educators, judges, partners, caregivers, and supporters chose to show up and help create space for those stories to be heard and celebrated.

That’s what happens when people choose to serve.

A commitment becomes a contribution.
A contribution becomes an opportunity.
An opportunity becomes hope.
And sometimes, hope grows beyond what we first imagined. 🌱

As we look back, we’re especially grateful to every volunteer who gave their time, talent, energy, and encouragement to help Cultiv8 Hope come to life.
You helped us cultivate more than a program. You helped cultivate possibility.

As part of our legacy, we invite you to reflect:

Where can you show up and help cultivate hope for someone else?

Because sometimes, choosing to serve is how we help someone else choose to win. 💜

WISDOM WEDNESDAY: Show Up. Serve Well. 🤲🏾

We learned that impact doesn't always require a title, a spotlight, or a seat at the table. Sometimes, it simply requires someone willing to show up and help.

From workshops and retreats to our Annual Bold, Brave & Brilliant Awards and Fundraising Gala, volunteers were woven into so many of the moments that brought the I Choose To Win experience to life. They gave their time, energy, talents, and heart—and reminded us that generosity of time can become generosity of impact.

What has volunteering—or witnessing someone serve—taught you about showing up?

Share your wisdom with us. 👇🏾

For The People Who Showed Up 💜

Behind every program, event, workshop, and moment of impact were people willing to simply show up and serve.

Our volunteers gave their time, energy, talents, and heart—and helped turn vision into action.

As we reflect on their role in our story, consider: Where can you show up more intentionally for something you believe in?

This week, we celebrate those who chose to serve.

Your willingness to show up became part of our legacy!

💜A Message from our Board Chair, Kamella Emmanuel 💜

One of the greatest privileges of my leadership journey has been serving as Board Chair of I Choose To Win.

Over the past eleven years, I have had the honor of witnessing what is possible when vision, faith, and community come together with purpose. I have seen women rediscover their voice, step into leadership, find healing, and embrace possibilities they may never have imagined. Those moments are the true measure of this organization’s legacy.

The decision to begin winding down I Choose To Win was made thoughtfully and with great care. As a Board, we believe that leadership is not only about knowing when to build—it is also about knowing how to steward a meaningful ending with integrity, transparency, and gratitude.

I want to thank our founder, Melonie Butler, for her unwavering vision and commitment, as well as every board member, volunteer, partner, donor, and supporter who helped bring that vision to life. You have each been part of something that has made a lasting difference.

While this chapter is coming to a close, I don’t believe impact has an expiration date. The lessons learned, the lives transformed, and the seeds planted over the past eleven years will continue to grow in ways we may never fully see.

Thank you for believing in this mission and for walking this journey with us.

It has truly been an honor to serve.

Sometimes, you don't realize the impact of a moment until years later.

Jackie Jackson shared how one exercise from I Choose To Win sparked a vision she hadn't even imagined for herself—and ultimately inspired her to become an entrepreneur.

That’s legacy.
Planting a seed.
Speaking possibility.

Helping someone see something in themselves they couldn't yet see.
As we celebrate 11 years of I Choose To Win, we're collecting the stories, memories, and reflections that remind us just how far those seeds have traveled.

💜 Have an I Choose To Win story? We'd love to hear it!

👉🏾 Tap the link in our bio to submit your reflection and/or RSVP for our virtual legacy celebration on August 26 at 7 PM.

Come share. Come remember. Come celebrate all of the individual and shared wins that are so abundant within our community.

You are part of the legacy!
